I got one of theys setups from this seller.$1600 +$130 shiping

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2002-...spagenameZWDVW
Then I got This kit from Mike,,,http://www.madenterprise.com/scparts.htm
Then if you can do it yourself you'll save a lot.I did not. Pluse I have Lots of extras like swaping out the M112 for a Kenne Bell and so on and so on.

You should get it all done for around $5000...$3500.if you do it yourself.

My whipple, installed and custom tuned was $6300. Of course, that price included the Xcal 2. If you are budgeting, make sure you make an allowance for the tune that you will definately need.

ok wow nvm for just a $1000 more i can get like a whipple or a kenne bell which has a lot more hp and torque

but that will be for another time, the only reason i asked was because i can find cheap used lightning chargers and put them on but the kit seems to cost more than the charger, i rather spend the money on a lift

Just the blower won't get you there. You'll have to buy alot more parts. I spend some $$ on my truck but I did a L blower swap on a 5.4 F250 and spent just over 3K. And the KB isn't intercooled for the N/A 5.4 and the whipple isn't offered for the 2V. And I don't know how you figure you'll get more hp or torque. For our motors there isn't a better twinscrew/roots choice. And with the L swap you can upgrade the blower to a KB or Whipple and it'll be intercooled.

if they make a whipple for a lightning then it should fit the 5.4L 2v right?

or for some reason i havent known this, maybe the lightning is a 3v, but i doubt it

and it makes the lightning faster

but hell i could be all wrong

how much did that lightning engine cost you?

and how does it perform with the wheigt of the crewcab, lift, and tires?

It's just a blower upgrade for the Lightnings ($3500) not an entire setup like what would be need for other models.

The Lightning engine is lower compression therefore designed to accept boost better.

I bought the L motor new $3400 or so, but had I known what I know now I would have picked up a used L stock block for about $1500. (we are talking only the long block).

It performs like a beast. There isn't anything like it around. I can light up those 38X15.50R20's with ease and pull on just about anything around these parts. (short of another L or GT etc.) I didn't build it to race and have never been to the track but it'll pin you back in the seat.

I did the lightning blower swap on a N/A 5.4 for just over 3K a few weeks ago. I have more into my truck but I upgraded alot and bought a new OEM L motor. Knowing what I know now, I could have picked up a used motor for 1500. But yes it was worth everything I have in it. What I'm not happy with was the exhaust. Headers aren't needed at my power level and even though I plan to turn the wick up it still won't get me much farther than stock manifolds would have. And they cost me a good dime.

So if you have a N/A 5.4 2v, I'm all for the L swap. It leaves room for growing later, There are thousands of L's running around with different setups so you have alot of info to research through and know what works.

Hey Brahmus, knowing what you know now, where would you recommend picking up a used L motor, and how much would a used 5.4 sell for?
