Adapting a Turbo...

I was just wondering what it would take to adapt an early 90s Thunderbird turbo coupe's turbo to my 1994 F-150. The turbo from the thunderbird pushed the 4 cyl up to 18 psi. I was wondering since I have a 5.0 bored to a 306 if that turbo would be able to push it to 5-7 psi... And if it would work how much of a challenge would it be to tune.. I live in a very small town in Alabama and have litterally no access to a performance shop... If I upgraded to the Maf system from summit how much more would there be to getting to run right at a low psi... Thanks in advance...

you'll have to run 2 of those t-coupe turbos. 1 won't flow enough air. google search a Mike in MI with 302/351, twin turbo, t-bird, junk yard budget setup. he did a couple setups in a couple cars on a budget. you could just follow his resipe.

I want to be fast but i still want to be within reason

350hp will be easy. I would throw10-12lbs of boost to it, using two t3's and put down 400rwhp or so through an auto.

Thumbs up

Just use a single T-88 You will have more than enough boost and power to just blow the bottom end right out of the block. LOL!! I personally would just go with a single turbo set up instead of twins due to the expence and double the plumbing. I would also go with a 2-3 core intercooler. A T-76 would be more than you ever need.

The twin t3 method can be done very very cheaply. Compared to doing a big single such as you are suggesting.

If you wanted to do a "cheap" single, do a holset hx40. That can produce enough to split a block.

First of all I want to say again how much I appreciate all of the replies. What size injectors will I need to run 350 hp on my truck I have a 5 spd and I'm running 9.9 - 10.1 in the 1/8 mile what do you think it would do with twoo t3's and properly tuned. The only things ive done to my 5.0 is having it rebuilt, k&n airfilter and I put a limited slip in the axle because one tire spining a 1/8 mile is useless.... Thanks again for everything...

42's they are cheap, safe for more power in the future, and run like stock. You will need a way to tune for them though.

Times are hard to predict but I could see you picking up a second in the 1/4 easy, the 5.0 in the trucks in stock form only puts about 150hp to the wheels so going to 350 will be a huge jump in power. Good Luck with the project and let the good times roll, also take lots of pics for us to follow your progress.

you should do a search, spyder turbo's can hook you up for less than $5,000 installed (with the fuel pump, injectors blow thru maf) and tuned
