Then spend the extra and get the perma cool mounting hardware. The fans are great but the copper rods started wearing into my radiator after a year. Protect the controllers from the elements the best you can. The setup is not horrible but could be improved a bit.

edit: now that's funny ^^^^ same wave length, now that's scary. I understand you are limited in space but this is not a place to cheap out. I learned the hard way.

i also recomend any kit but Troyers, the brass rod wore away some of my radiator now i have to pull the whole thing off and braze the hole, this would be expensive if i didnt have the welding tools required, i also had two of the fan controlers fail on me in the first year

From all the issues I have read just tonight with the TP kit, I wouldn't even think of using it with all the stuff you're adding. Just spend the extra money and get the Flex-a-lite kit, you'll be glad you did.

HI!... DERALE is the one that supplies the copper rods with their fans. I used the DERALE nylon mounting kit (PART # 16744) with mine. Didn't like the thought of running the copper rods any longer.

Ordered the fans last night. I asked how before I ordered how the fans mounted. Only I wanted to make sure they didn't mount with zip ties. Looks like, unfortunately, that might be the way to mount them.

Brahmus, Bigtruck311, Do ya'll ever do any offroading? Just wondering, thought if you did maybe the extra vibrations, twisting might loosing the mounting of the fans....Just a thought.

I called to maybe cancel the order but fans were all ready on the truck. Matbe I'll have better luck with the kit.

Thanks....

yea i do alot of offroading, all the rods were tight, it was just all the vibration that speeded up the wearing of the rod on the radiator in my case, even if you dont offroad i think in time it will still wear threw, good luck with your choice

I don't offroad much at all.. or atleast not in this truck just haven't had time. but about 30K miles on it since the fans so that may give you some kind of timeline. but i did reinstall them with plastic type zip tys.. so we'll see how this goes. The fans are good but i am now running a mad controller.

The sales person assured me that they only had one or two instances with the rods wearing the radiators. I didn't tell them I knew two more. Considering my truck is lowered with stiffer suspension, I might as well be off-roading.

Thanks Guys

how did you use the zipties? if you could explain that would be great because i dont want to install those rods back threw the radiator after i fix it, and how much did the duel core lightning radiator cost? thanks

I found it on ebay.. $135 shipped to my door. You don't really need one but i figured if i was going to pull it i might as well drop a good one in and couldn't pass on the price. The zip tys have a square head and slip through the fan, foam pad, radiator then into another square head with the zip lock head built into it. I got them From Madenterprise but they are perma cool. Item 105 http://www.perma-cool.com/Catalog/Cat_page06.html

Has anyone looked in to making a custom braket or even a shroud? There has got to be a better way to mount these fans. There are mounting points everywhere on the fan shrouds. I'm thinking of looking into it.
