Silly Whipple question.

So I'm reading some stuff on whipplesuperchargers.com... I read the following snip on the site:
http://www.whipplesuperchargers.com/faq.asp?faqID=21#21
Our system is so efficient and produces such useable torque, that you are rarely at full throttle for any length of time. When you are at cruise speed or idle, the bypass allows the engine to breathe normally, no boost. Only when you depress the throttle aggressively does the bypass close and you have an instant 6-psi of boost. The combination of our unique bypass valve and reasonable amounts of boost, engine life is not effected.
So I'm thinking to myself - In theory, then the effect on gas milage during freeway cruising should have little/no effect since the engine is breathing normally, right?

I guess what I'm interested to know is the effect of the whipple kit on my MPG numbers for my '04 F150. I know it would drop in city driving, but since I'm majority freeway miles, would I be looking at a 1mpg loss? 2? 4? Is it just marketing hype?

Thanks in advance gurus!

Mitch - Do you have numbers? Just curious. What about overall mileage, with city driving mixed in?

I have a Procharger on mine and Gas milage went up the highway for me too, about 2 MPG. Just like Mitch, it doesn't shift out of overdrive now on the highway even in hills.

Yeah, I currently get between 15-15½MPG bone stock with 65-75% being freeway cruising somewhere between 65 to 80MPH. If I could maintain at least 14-15mpg w/ a supercharger, intake, exhuast & programmer I'd be happier than a pig in slop.

I know alot of it will depend on my right foot, but I figured after a bit I'll be able to control it.

I get 17 city and 22 mpg highway. I have a 4.6L though. I have gotten as low as 9 mpg due to leadfooting it.

my highway mpg is the same as before the s/c, around 14.0 to 14.5 at 70 to 75 mph.
