you can get all power from a turbo for hardly any money at all
all u need is a welder and a little imagination
first go to a junkyard and grab a turbo off a volvo or saab
then get some sheet metal and make a flange box that u can modify to encase 2 cylinders that have a hole cut through the header
then run an intake line and output to the throtle body and youve got a turbo for under $100

$100? That's too much! According to the ad along the left side of my screen, you can supercharge any car for $38. (www.spiralmax.com) Why did I waste my money on a MagnaCharger?

its not too much work and as for it bein $100 it all depends on how much the parts cost at the junkyardand all the air ducts you make or buy and ive never had any problem with tuning and fuel
the turbo i used had no control the more exhuast running through the more air is forced into the throttle body

my friend in wyoming has almost no power from his 5.0 so hes goin to wyotech and takin all the high performance classes so we know what were doin here so were not gonna blow up *******!!!
he boughgt shorty headers that had pipes that were packed tightly at the mid cylinders so we mounted a box with a flange for the saab or volvo tobo to mount to we cut a hole in the header mounted the box around the hole then recounected the outlet down before the heater (first cat) and yes it must run very rich in order to accomplish our goal
out in larimie wyoming they are at about 7200 feet above sea level so hes gettin way to much fuel so the air isnt gonna cause any problems until he comes back to massachusetts but by then he plans to sell the truck out there so there really isnt an issue

the two mid cylinders on the 5.0 are right next to each other so it isnt hard to box them out
what you people arent getting is that the truck isnt getting enough air its bogging out because its pumping too much fuel and yes i understand the engine thinks its gettin enough but in the mountains the air is way too thin and the truck isnt running right at all this is simply a way to force more air into the intake to burn the fuel better and gain back all the lost horse power

what you aren't getting is that it's not just like mixing cake batter. You don't just pout a buncha air here, pour a buncha fuel here and call it a day. Without proper tuning your asking for problems. People don't take days to properly tune engines for no reason, it's difficult and precise.
i say let the teenager blow his truck up.
i guarantee that is what will happen. i would suggest you change your o2 sensors and maybe have your injectors flow tested and cleaned if you think your trucks running that rich than their is something not right with it.

since u guys are just so smart to read my profile u failed to notice that i have already mentioned the truck is in wyoming i live in massachusetts it isnt my truck so its not a 96 his truck is an 86 but he bought it the previous owner put a 60s or 70 5.0 motor in it idk what year or model as far as i know the truck is running fine and yes there is a vacuum leak somewhere in the system as far as i know hes dead by know or is just too busy to call me but i dont really care so im ending this thread it worked on his truck i got into a fight over somethin stupid and im not talkin to him anymore so i cant get any more details for ya
1st i apoligize if it seamed i was picking on you. so lets get this straight its a late 60's early 70's motor. so is a 289 or a 302 either way is it carburated or did he fuel inject it. if he didn't put a carb. that is setup for forced air then that explains why he is having problems with fuel supply. i'm no carb. expert by anymeans and its not just that easy to slap on a turbo that wasn't specifically spec'ed for the size motor and expect it to be cheap.
