2 inch rear drop

I've searched through the threads on here to see if I could find info on this, but didnt find any, not saying its not there, I just didnt find it. I've got an 07FX4 supercrew and I'm wanting to drop the rear 2 inches. Probably just going to remove the rear blocks as its cheaper than buying a drop shackle kit, but I was wondering if if there were any benefits to using the drop shackle, or if removing the rear block would change the pinion angle at all? Also if I drop the rear 2 inches do I need to put different shocks on, or will the stock ones be fine? Any info is appreciated.

Well I don't think removing the block will change your pinion angle much. Adding a drop shackle will, but some shackle drop kits have pinion shims as part of the kit, like the Ground Force 2" shackle drop kits.

Yeah it seems like a lot of guys on here are running the ground force shackles. I've got a belltech 2/4 that I haven't installed, but now I cant decide if I just want to drop the rear 2 inches and run some bigger tires.

On my 06 4x4 I removed the lift block and added drop shackles and 4x2 roush shocks and got close to 5" drop in rear and in front replaced my 4x4 shocks for 4x2 shocks and got close 2" drop in front. Pictuers in my album.

Hey thanks for the info LincolnMarkLT20. Your truck looks good. If I ended up throwing the belltech kit on it'd look pretty similar. It's 2" coils for the front, and for the rear I'd have 4" of drop so it'd be pretty close. Think mine would have a slight rake to it though.

So does anyone know if you just drop the rear 2 inches if you can use stock shocks or do you need to use new ones?

I've been running the stock shocks since I put the 2" shackles on with no problems.

As a matter of fact I just dropped it 6" in the rear tonight and drove 1.5 hours down 175 from cedar creek to dallas with no problems (does bottom out on the bump stops though).

Youll be fine with the stock shocks. Let me know if you wanna buy these that i just took off. If $75 is too much make me an offer, I have no use for them now.

yah you will be fine for a while with factory shocks as long as you dont go more the 2"

You will need 2wd U bolts if you take out the 4x4 block tho because you wont have enough threads on your factory U bolts.
