Lowering my Screw

I apologize in advance about my ignorance with Ford suspensions. This is a different animal from my old S-10. Also, I did do several searches

I'm about to lower my 2wd '08 Foose Edition screw with the following components and have a couple questions.

So far I have acquired the following:

- Saleen S331 front nitrogen struts
- Saleen S331 Rear nitrogen shocks
- Saleen S331 front drop springs
- Saleen S331 rear drop leafs
- Ground Force shackles with OE bushings (part #91201)
- Eibach camber adjuster kit (part #5.86240k)
- H&R 38mm adjustable front sway bar (part #70610)
- Also, I'm running 275/45/22s

My goal is to have a level stance and much improved cornering performance. I'm guessing the Saleen parts are most equivalent to the Roush setup for a 2/3 drop but I could never find the exact drop specs on the Saleen S331 suspension.

Questions:

1. Bump stops - I assume I need lower ones. What size F and R?

2. Is a carrier bearing relocator required? I know that Ground Force includes it in their 2/4 kit along with a transmission spacer. McGaughy's sells a kit but the picture doesn't show the tranny spacer so I'm not sure if it's included or required. Also, it looks like many people do a 2/4 without relocating the carrier bearing at all.

3. If I need the carrier bearing relocator, do I use it in conjuction with the shims from the Ground Force shackles?

4. The GF shackles have 2 sets of holes. Since my goal is to have a level stance, can I use the other holes to get a 1.5" drop instead of the advertised 2" if the Saleen parts lower the rear more than 3"?

5. Should I also install a Hellwig rear sway bar? I haven't found much feedback about running a rear bar. I figure I can add that later if experience much oversteer.

Thanks in advance

The shocks will likely come with bumpstops for the front since they are mounted inside the coil on the shock shaft. I'd run those unless you have issues with them bottoming out too soon, then maybe just give them a little snip snip

As for the rear you will be pretty close to the frame with 5" of drop so you will need a short bump stop, probably around 3/4"

You will use either the transmission shim or the relocation bracket. Not both. Shim is for 1pc driveshafts, and relocation bracket is for 2pc driveshafts Your truck likely has a 2pc

To clarify there is a transmission shim offered with some Ground Force drop kits, and there are Pinion angle shims for the axle.....

Yes you will probably need carrier bearing and pinion angle shims

yes 1.5" or 2" are your options

Ive heard good things about rear sway bars really tightening up the handling, but i have yet to get mine installed so no personal experience to speak of

My questions:
1. Red or Black Foose?
2. Stock wheels? If not whats the offset/backspacing specs on your wheels
3. Do you have larger bore sway bar bushings? I would assume they come with them, but i figured i'd ask
4. Do you know if your truck has a "lift" block in between the axle and the leaf, if so keep that in mind when you are ordering parts since you will gain more drop if you leave the "lift" block out

Dont forget to take before and after measurements/pictures

Thanks for the info. Yes, my new Saleen struts have bumpers on them so I'm set in the front. I didn't get bump stops with the rear shocks so I'll have to get some 3/4" Energy Suspension or Prothane ones.

White Foose - I've only seen one other white one

Stock Foose 22 x 9 not sure of the offset but they come almost flush with the fender.

Yes, H&R supplies bushings with the sway bar

Honestly, I never checked about a lift block since the truck was supposed to be lowered as part of the Foose package. As you can see from the pictures it was not. It was built from a FX2 Sport so if those have the blocks there's a good chance I may have them. It's way too cold outside to verify at the moment.

damn i dont think ive ever seen a white one, and i didnt even know they offered it. Very very nice!!

Most Fx2s have 1" lift block, but i'd take a peek under there before you get surprised during the install.

Also i assume you have a 2wd, i dont know if they offer a FOOSE in AWD (all time 4wd) platforms, just another thing to consider with the parts that are going on the truck, and how it will effect other parts of the truck

Pat put my GF shackles on the 1.5" setting to put my truck at a level stance when we installed them. Can't wait to see some pics of yours lowered.

Took a peek under the truck and it looks like I do have the 1" blocks. My Saleen leafs did not come with new U-bolts. When I pull the block, will there be enough threads on the OEM U-bolts or will I have to track down some shorter ones? Or will I be able to just use the shackles and leave the blocks in there and use my existing U-bolts?

i believe you will have enough threads, to be sure, measure your threads under the nut and see if you have more then an inch of threads.

Thanks everybody for the input. I just ordered the Hellwig rear sway bar (part #7663). Just need some much warmer weather and a replacement bolt for the front of the leaf spring on the driver's side by the gas tank.

It only adds about a half hour to the install if you drop the tank and re-use the bolt. just reverse the way it goes in when you re-install the drop leafs..

you dont even have to completely drop the tank out, just take the filler neck off the bedside, and pull the straps loose and lower it 6" and slide it forward just enough wiggle the bolt out, just make sure you have a near empty tank for your safety and convenience.
