tire sizes with a 2.5/4 drop
tire sizes with a 2.5/4 drop
ok guys, i am still debating which way i want to go. so here is another question.
for these rims:
20x8.5 Chrome 6 on 135mm Acorn +40 mm 6.288 3174-06 2100 lbs. 40 lbs.
22x9.5 Chrome 6 on 135mm Acorn +40 mm 6.785 3174-06 2100 lbs. 46 lbs
what size tires should be used. my truck will have a 2.5/4 drop on it so im trying to avoid all rubbing issues but still have a really good tire to rim ratio. i am also looking to avoid having the tires stick out of the wheel wells.
for the 22's i have been looking at 305/45's, 285/45's, and 275/45's but i think the 275's will have too rough of a ride.
for the 20's im looking at 285/50's, 275/55's, and 265/50's
give me your opinions on which would look the best, ride the best for each rim size.

so would a 285/45 rub?
basically i guess what would be easiest is what is the biggest tire that can be fitted in there on a 22 that will not rub.
hey drew, what size tires are you running now and what size were you running when you had your static drop on?

I have 305/40/22 on a 22x9.5 wheel. No rubbing at all and the tires dont stick out. When I had the OEM 20's I had 295/25/20 tires.
305/40/22's

295/45/20's

305/45/22 will give you the best look and ride. i have them with a groundforce 2/4 drop and could never be happier. rides just as good as the stock rims. i ran the stocks for the winter to keep from messing up my rims and when i went back to the 22's the ride change wasnt noticeable at all. only the extra gas that it burns. the 305/45's are perfect and wont rub
With my drop and tires my tire is about a 1/4 of an inch away from rubbing in the front at full turn. It's close but it works.
McGaughy's 2/4.5 Drop. It actually turned out to be like a 2/5 drop.
Rear Air Assist, meaning I can vary from a 2/5 drop to a 2/3 drop.
Rims are 22's and tires are 305/40R22
