Cool Ideas....Ideas....I need ideas!

Hey everyone! (I am sure this subject has been beaten pretty good)

I finished up the installation on all 4 door speakers and the Head Unit. I must say the Alpine 7894 is well worth the $$$. Excellent HU for playing MP3's and everything else. I matched that with Boston Acoustic RX87 (The rally series 5X7's) WOW! What a sound!!!! However, something is lacking......
I am at that point where I need to start making decisions on a sub(s). I like the sound of a 10" and I have my favorite brands (tighter bass!) Anyway, I just wanted to find out what some of you guys have done with your Supercab F-150's (especially the ones from 99) I have kicked around the idea of mounting them under the backseat, mounting them under the front seats......anything so I don't give up much space in the supercab. Share ideas, swap pics!

Thanks
Steve

Steve,

How about one of the boxes that subbox.net sells?
They have a box that holds 2- 10" subs and fits under your seat along with a 2"lift kit for the rear seat. They also sell one that holds 2- 12" subs in it.

Dragonsm....I have a 98' Supercab with Captain's chairs. I build a custom inclosure and molded it into my center console. The sub actually fires toward the rear of the cab but it would be very easy to have it fire towards the floor. If you are interested in a picture or two, let me know and I will email them. My email address is boiler71@hotmail.com

Hey Steve,

I built a box for one 10" sub that fits under about half of the back seat. I posted an earlier thread with pictures, the link is below. If you like it and want to build it, e-mail me or post a reply and I can send you the drawing/plan.

Well, I don't have a console in the front (60/40 bench seat) so that would probably rule out that idead. I did like the subbox ideas. However, I didn't see anything for just a single 10". Anyone know where I can locate a set of the seat "spacers" to raise the back seat?!?

Thanks

Yeah, there is an earlier thread for those in this same catergory.

I think they may be pricey for what they are though...

Or you could build one of my design above.... no lifting of seats.

Go back to the SubBox web site, click on the 'Ford Boxes' link and then scroll down to the one called "F150 X-Cab 2-Piece Box."
There are two seperate boxes there and you can buy just one for a single 10".

Dragonsm: What's the display like on that unit during the day? Clear as a bell or does the sun and reflections wash it out?

Lightbulb

I had to make mine moveable because I need to flip the seat down for loading up the truck once a month. I just bought a Q-logic box, and set it on the hump in the back. The passenger side front seat holds it in place, and it sounds great! I did spin it around to fire backwards (sounded better). When more than one person needs to sit back there, I just slide the seat up and move it out of the way. No one ever does, really, but it still needs to be moveable anyway. I also plan to recarpet the box to match the interior. Good luck, it's a tough thing to put a single ten in a ext. cab 60/40,,,,,98

So far, the display has been pretty good in the sun. I thought it would get washed out after seeing it in the store, but it hasn't given me any troubles in the truck! I definately recommend the deck!

i have a 99 supercab, and i recently got some subs installed. i got the box off of subbox.net, and 2 rockford fosgate hx2's with a rf 1050.2 amp. i had a place install them, which is good cause i know i can't do the wiring, but they didn't place everything as tight as they should be. the box is out a bit too far and theres more room, and the amp comes out into the back space while theres more up front. anyways, the goods: box works good with 10's, not enough air for 12's. the box has a lift kit which is a bi-atch to install, but makes the needed space. boy does it hit, and it doesn't take up any real space, cept no space under the seats ofcourse. seats won't flip up, and back passangers can't put their feet under it. but my subs hit hard, and everything works pretty well. under the seat is the best place to put em.

Sundog7, if your interested in that deck, let me know..(or any deck for that matter over 250 bucks) I ordered mine thru crutchfield and got all the mounting stuff...plus found a way to save 25 bucks! (one catch..you would have to be a first time orderer) Anyway, the 25 dollars off was a nice addition to all the mounting brackets and harness'. Drop me an email if you want to know more.

Thanks
Steve

Mine's a 98 S/C : https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...5&pagenumber=5

In your case with 4 doors I'd build the box like I have but to fit under the centre of the rear seat and even then your middle rear seat passenger can always put his/her legs on either side of the sub.

Plus the 10"er you want would take up even less room than my 12" pictured but personally a 10" sub just doesn't bump enough bass for my taste.

Anyhow, gives you more ideas right.

buy the newest truckin magazine. there is a back glass that holds subwoofers and tweeters, so they don't take up any space. very cool.
