JL Audio XR570-CX
JL Audio XR570-CX
Im looking at outfitting my 2002 supercrew with JL Audio XR570-CX speakers. At first im not looking at adding any woofers, but will down the road, so here are the questions I have.
1. Does anyone have any experience with these speakers?
2. Since im not starting with woofers, should I not use the included xovers and add them later iff needed to cut out the super lows?
3. Can anyone recommend a GOOD and REPUTABLE online reseller who carries them? All my local shops want and arm and a leg.
P.S. This is just the first step in the evolution. As time and funds permit I will add an amp, new head as well as woofers and woofer amp/capacitor.

I used to have the TR series from JL. THey are the lower models, but they sounded great. I have heard the XR570's in a shop around my house and they sound even better, the best 5x7's I have heard. I am going to get a pair of the XR-570CX's and a pair of XR-570CSI's (the components). You should definately use the included crossovers. They don't crossover all the low bass to the speaker. What they do is cross over high freqencies to the tweeter and all lower frequencies to the woofer/midrange. Otherwise, both the tweeter and midrange would get the full 20-20000Hz signal.......not good for the tweeter especially.
The place I am buying from is thezeb.com. I believe their price is $199 for the pair. Like I said though, they do have the TR series which is more like $99 if cash is an issue.
Hope this helps...

Ive been looking at thezeb.com but dont see any JL gear. Ive been nurnt by online resellers so allways feel better going with a place others have used. Thx for the info.
A lot of people recommended thezeb.com on this message board. I decided to buy from them, and they had excellent service. I am sure others will tell you the same. About JL stuff, according to the guy I spoke with on the phone, they are no longer allowed to post pricing online, so you have to call and ask for prices and things, but they do carry JL....

Here is what I am thinking for my system, nothing too crazy (hehe, im too old for that now).
2002 screw fx4
head - Kenwood eXcelon Z828
doors - XR570-CX
behind rear seat - 2x 10w6's
500/1 for subs
300/4 for the XR's in the doors.
Wow,...a little deja vu....
I have already bought the 300/4 for my mids and the 500/1 for my subs, and now I am getting ready to buy the xr570's for my doors... Can't wait to hear it all. Hope all goes well for you.

btolenti, what are you plans for subs? Under seat? Behind seat? Center console?
I really like the space in my console so dont want to lose that. If I get real creative I may pull the back wall and make a fiberglass enclosure with mdf front, will have to see once it warms up here (minnesota) I hate working on the stuff when its cold.

I am in a different situation that you. I have a supercab, not a supercrew. You might want to try and find a post from biged-miami. He has a JL audio setup in his supercrew. He mounted his amps in on MDF behind the back seats.....looks really good. He also had space to make boxes for his subs behind the seats also.... Good luck.
Hey Guys,
I'm running XR-570's all the way around in my 2001 supercab.
They never disappoint and kick dirt on the MB Quart and Cantons that I ran previously. They are driven by a PPI 4 x 50.
You should run the X-overs as instructed but make sure you mount them in a dry area as they are not weather resistant like the speakers themselves.
I'm not aware of any resellers of JL, but I'm told by JL that there are no authorized online dealers of their product. This might lead to warranty problems if something ever went wrong. But then again, who ever has a problem with their JL's?
Let us know if you find them online. I'm in the market for the new center console stealthbox and my local dealers are having trouble producing one. I'd be will to chance the whole warranty thing if the price was right.

Clem, where did you mount your xovers ?
As for online resellers, as with any industry there is always "grey market" products that somehow leak into the channel and my guess is thats what many of these guys on the web have. Also, many companies have strict rules regarding selling online, or at least advertising online, they want to promote thier products to the fullest and many also gurantee sales regions so allowing online sales can have a detrimental impact on that.

Hey Zyg,
I mounted the front ones on the door panel itself in the indentation of the armrest. I used strap ties to secure it to the fiber matting that is attached to the panel. That way it's protected from moisture by the plastic barrier that's glued to the door. The back ones are inside the door itself because on my supercab there doesn't seem to be any way for water to get in. On the supercrew it would be a different story, I'm guessing.
I haven't had any experience with "grey market" purchase. Has anyone bought a JL product through one of these vendors. I'd love to get some feedback on this. Getting a good deal from an authorized dealer is nearly impossible. I paid $250/pair for my XR570CX's from a friend who just closed shop after being an authorized JL dealer for many years. I wish I had gotten my stealthbox ( the one I don't have yet ) from him before he bailed. Whatta bummer!
