I am looking to replace my stock speakers with something with a little more oomph... I would prefer same speakers front and rear (will be doing sub(s) in the future). I have already applied sound deadner to the front doors; will be applying to the rears when I install speakers. Ill be keeping the stock head unit (the base version), but will be amping the speakers with:
Arc Audio KS300.4 / 4Ch @ 4Ohm = 90 watts RMS Channel and
I would like to be in the sub $300 out the door range. I prefer shopping from Crutchfield, but would also consider Amazon.
I have been looking at:
Infinity Kappa 682.9cf / 5x7 2-Way / $160 Crutchfield
Infinity Kappa 50.9cs / 5.25 Components / $300 Crutchfield <-- This is what I am leaning towards
Polk Audio db5251 / 5.25 Components / $190 Crutchfield <-- I have not heard these, but seems they are talked about a lot
All of these are on Amazon for around $100-$120.
I would love to use Arc Audio Black, but they are out of my budget on this install... I am really curious on the tweeter installs. I have seen some pics where holes were drilled where the sail panel would be, but have not seen too many using the stock tweeter location. Any reason to do this other than better imaging?

I ended up going with Infinity Kappa 50.9cs at all 4 corners. I have the fronts installed. Modified the stock tweeter location. Hope to get the rears installed tomorrow. I may only get 1 done as it was near 100 today and tomorrow will probably be as hot, so I donno... I will have some pics for sure of the fronts!!
did you ever find out what sub you were goin to go with. I'm wanting to take the system out of my '10. I bought alot of system a while back for my old truck and its just sitting in the closest. Alpine 6 1/2" type x components, dual amp wiring kit, 4 channel alpine amp, so now I'm wanting to buy the rest and put it all in. I also have 75 sq ft of rat mat xxx. Hopefully I'll be able to piece somethin together, but I'm searchin for a sub setup just can't find any good info.
Currently all Ive done is replace the door speakers/surrounds with the above mentioned Infinity Kappa 50.9cs and Sound Deadneer in the doors. I plan on using:
Audio Control 6XS Crossover
Arc Audio KS300.4 / 4ch 90watt @ 4ohm RMS to power the surrounds
Arc Audio KS300.2 / 1ch 700watt @ 4ohm RMS to power a sub
For subs, I have 2 Arc Audio Arc 12 in a ported box. This combo has been metered at 140db (this was in a 07 Malibu MAXX), but I don't really want a full size sub box in the trunk.
I have also heard this amp power a single Alpine Type R 10" in a sealed box and was impressed (this was in a 01 Ford Mustang). I may go this route as there should be enough room under the rear seat for a .5 sealed box.
I also need to figure out what I am going to do about a line out converter (as I am planning on keeping the stock head unit). I am considering using: Audio Control LC6i

I have decided to use an aftermarket head unit. I originally ordered JVC KW-AV60, but it was defective. I have replaced it with Pioneer AVH-P3400BH.
