01 Screw. Is this possible??

Looking for a way to add some bass without losing any room. Having the rear seat NOT fold down is not an option. I have a 125lb Lab that rides back there, he needs the seats folded down to have any room.

While I had the seats folded down today I started thinking. Why couldn't I put a 8" sub in the compartments on each side of the rear wall. They are probably about 5 1/2-6" deep at the bottom, and taper to about 3-4 at the top.

Could I fiberglass up a box for each side? Then drop in some shallow 8's like these Kickers? http://www.crutchfield.com/p_20610C8...84.html?tp=111
There is even a inch or 2 between the seat and rear wall to play with.

Am I grabbing at straws here??
BTW, I know nothing about building sub boxes.

not to revive an old thread but i have a similar question.

I wanted to drop this behind the seat.

says it needs 6 3/8 inches to fit

thanks, been working on getting the money for a system for a few years now and I want to make sure it'll fit

Too deep, it can be done with the shallow version of that sub though. And they sell the boxes for that area on eBay if your not up for building your own.

Those subs are actually quite thin, but get a box built for your system; a box that will fit a shallow subwoofer but still fit under the seats. I have two 12" Rockford P3S's that are totally under the seat, no seat lift, and the seats lock flat into place.

The p3s' are only around 3.75" deep though right?

The new ones are 3.65", and the older ones were 3.625". There's barely enough room to get a woofer down there, downfire. With proper considerations, like room behind the magnet, and room in front of the woofer, the enclosure has to be very carefully calculated.

Yup, it was tough fitting 2 BMs but with a carefully planned and built box 2 thin 12s will fit without modification.
