Very basic - but need help

First: I don't want a bumper thumper.

Second: I know there is no sub.. Yet....

Third: Thanks for the help

I just want to update the factory speakers (Yuk 25W) to something better. I will pre run cables for the sub so once I buy one the install will be easy.

I just want to make sure I am on the right path. I DO NOT want to spend alot. In fact the cheaper the better. I looked around and so far have come up with the following

Very cheap.

Kenwood KFC-C5794PS
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...C-C5794PS.html
$52.95

Kenwood KFC-1694PS
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...FC-1694PS.html
$54.99

Scosche SA68 speaker adapters 6X8 - 6.5
16 Gauge Speaker Wire.. 100FT roll just to have extra

As for the AMP. I can go so cheap I make myself really happy or I go past 200

I'm thinking this unit because it offers the max RMS to the speakers.

Boss CX600
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...oss-CX600.html
$89.99

Just remember I don't want to go crazy.
Also I'm in Canada so $300 = 450 for me with shipping.

Good luck get 75rms per channel off that boss amp. It'll be closer to about 40 or 50.

Look for some "used" good stuff. I set up my wife's truck with gear that was 15+years old...and it will blow away most stuff now.

this was all used stuff...and and could be had for a little over $200 with some digging....its running 4X75 and also a 200X1 for the sub

Maybe do a little research here before you throw money away...

Hardest part with this is I'm in Canada. Everything on here is in the USA and shipping is RETARDED!

I believe there are Canadian audio forums too....and there are For Sale sections in them. The majority of name brand stuff out there now is total crap! Companies try to save a few bucks and send their producton out to china, which is never the same as if it was here. the really good quality gear you end up paying alot for...so thats why used, and older stuff is a great place to start looking!

Also...if i was on a budget like you, i'd forget upgrading the rear speakers...id leave them stock and running off the head unit power...i'd then put my money into front componet speakers with a good 2 channel amp on them, and fade your headunit towards the front , so that the rear speakers are barely even audible

Yeah I've been looking around (kinda) I see a lot of stuff around. Most is out of reach for location. Places like kijiji and craigs list. a few forums etc.. But who can you trust. I've already got one guy who is selling me a trim piece thats giving me the run around now. It's gone to paypal resolution center now.

do you have an idea on an amp that would actually power the current speakers I'm thinking about.

If it was ME? Id look at like this Zapco....its a 4 channel....what you can do it...run 2 of the channels for your front "new" kenwood speakers. Keep your rear speakers stock, run them off the headunit still, and then bridge channel 3 and 4 off the amp to get one 250 watt channel for a sub....and the amp was selling for like $150...so by saving $50 on the amp that you were looking for, and not buying rear speakers ...you use that money to buy a sub...and you'd have a decent system

I'd really rather install 4 new speakers and power them properly. Then in 2 months ad a second amp and a sub.

I'm confused.

Pioneer stuff isn't that great either but probably a little better than boss. The pioneer amps just get really hot really fast.

On a side note, since you plan on adding a sub later why don't you just buy a 6-channel rca so you only have to do one run of it? And do a big power run to a distro block in the back so you only have to do one run of power too?

Just a question....why would you "rather" install 4 new speakers? are your rear speakers blown right now? the reason I'm asking is that rear speaker are really only there to support ambiance...which means you want them jsut loud enough to add space, but not loud enough to know they are there....which is why stock speakers powered by a stock head could do this, when you FADE the head unit to the front.

By doing this..it frees up your cash, so that you can then spend more on the front stage (which is where 90% ) of your music should be coming from. Sub frequencies are "non directional" so if you have a solid front stage...the sub bass will sound like its coming from the front...not behind you...

But its sounding like you are in the boat of ....just get 4 speakers power them and hope it sounds decent. Those kenwood speakers you posted..the only person that will kow how good or bad they will sound is YOU....b/c everyone's ears are diffrent. We all hear frequncies diffrently.....you should probably do some more research this way you can get exactly what your looking for...and for the price you want to pay. IMO
