lol speakers are brand new. My truck is on order and arrives week of March 19

I've always replaced all four speakers. I always run new cables. I've just never amp'd up before and wanted to figure the best bang for the buck.

If I buy a sub and everything now it's a bit more money?

Amps would be Kicker, JL, Alpine, MB Quart, Hifonics, Zapco, PPI, Kicker, Rockford Fosgate and there's a few other's that sonic sells that actually do rated.

A tip of advice when looking at a amp, if it says it does 75rms and 800max it's probably not a good amp. Easiest way is to find out about them is to google whether that brand does rated power.

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...t-FX4.100.htmlThe amp is not to much. I don't want to blow the speakers.

I was even thinking this one

Amps:
These Aura amps are underrated and will have great SQ.

4-Channel

5-Channel will be an all-in-one solution if you don't want to run a ton of power to your sub(s).

EDIT: Just saw what you planned on running... I've never heard fantastic things about Kenwood speakers in general, but they make great head units. That MB amp looks solid. I would just run the fronts powered off that and bridge the rear channels to a sub, run the rear speakers off of HU power.

Not sure what it'd be to ship that way, but this is a solid amp kit at a great price:

I've read a lot of good reviews on it. Many people have said to buy it while they last. called sonic not once. not twice. but thrice for opinions. techs said it's a good alternative to the MB quart. it's got more features etc..

so i think I'm going to hit the checkout button.

buy your speaker wire at wal-mart
buy your amp wire at your local welder-supply place... end up paying 1/8th the price for ofc (oxide-free copper) instead of tinned aluminum. buy the fuse on ebay for 5$ with the housing, i like the stinger hpm series, aesthetically they look good.

watch for when soundsurround sells jl 10w0's for 35 dollars, the subs dont need any power to run them, are solidly built, dont need a large box at all, but sound decent inside the vehicle.

amps, check out kijiji, i would get a alpine amp, or try to find a store that sells total mobile audio, it's a sub-brand for jl, they are decent amps and very cheap. dont know too many people running infinity amps, so cant tell you for sure. I'm jl loyal as my jls never ever given me issues, but there are plenty of solid companies out there putting out good products. (R/F not really being one of them imho)

i personally would never ever buy oval speakers, no matter the size the gyometry is all wrong, but you are going for cheap/functional not an epic soundstage, so your speaker choices seem fine but they are paper-cones.. you will get "bass" from them, but not the best SQ. i would go for a tweeter/mid combo, but completely up to you.

Have you considered spending more on a HU that puts out a decent wattage and eliminating the speaker amp altogether? HU's are pretty solid these days and until i got my second set of c5-525's to justify the HD 600/4 i ran a single set of c5-525's and tr 5.5's as fillers off a Alpine CDA-9887 perfectly fine, it only distorted at 27/35 which was ridiculously loud as it was.

Walmart speaker wire is generally an oversized jacket and undersized wire, at least the off brand kinds they sell at my walmart. Welding cable is great but not very flexible.

Component systems are great but you need to do sound deadening to really bring out the mids otherwise they'll sound lacking.

HU's youll only see about 20-35rms clean power or so, better than they used to be but still not very powerful.

As for your comment on Rockford not being a good company, any proof to back that up? Or is that just based on you'd rather pay extra for the jl name.

for the system he is running he doesnt need very expensive wire, walmart speaker wire is more then sufficient for the application, monster wire is all jacket and next to no wire too. There are brands with welding cable too, the cable in my truck was easy enough to manipulate.. you just have to get welding cable with a slimmer jacket and higher strand count for more flexibility. I simply spent a few hours in the local welding supply shop till i got what i wanted... this guy isn't after show-car fancy wiring, his amps will prolly end up under the back seat, with a wire run through the passenger front spare grommet through the channel on the passenger side to his back seat... pretzel-flexibility is not required for that.

you dont need to go with sound deadening, again he is not going for an auidophile system that's running FLAC he just wants decent sound for the least money possible, absolutely nothing wrong with components, and there's no difference between adding a tweeter and not having a tweeter... you seem to think the mid is somehow magically isolated when you dont have a tweeter. Properly adjusting your eq bands can compensate for no sound deadening fairly effectively.

my hu wasnt 50/75w but like i said it was clear up to 27/35, I was just suggesting he give it a shot before spending money on an amp/wiring kit/rca's ect.ect.ect what the problem is?

Rockford is not really a good company, their lower-end gear is about as useful as sony xplode... garbage waiting to blow up after a few months, no i dont have epic lab results, but myself and all my friends have spent LOTS of money on car audio equipment, and r/f used to have decent gear, but their subs/speakers simply have next to no longevity, unlike my JL stuff, which i have never had a problem with. Yes you pay extra for the JL brand, but in my experience the name is earned, like i said all my gear has lasted through the abuse i have put it through no problem.

I prefer JL, but as i stated there are plenty of companies out there that create solid products for the dollar value, infinity is one of them, r/f, xplode, kicker and alot of mtx higher-end stuff is not really one of those companies. they will get you by for a while, but dont expect them to last forever. He asked for cheap systems, not really systems he wants to replace every 3 years, though at the power-levels he is talking about, he might be fine.

He wanted opinions, i gave mine.

The component will lose low end without a deaden door, as in it'll be lacking some of its response. That's why I said deadening is needed to get all out of them. The tweeter would be on the other end of the spectrum with the high frequencies? Not sure why you tried to make it about the tweet.

Exclamation

Thanks for all the thoughts.

Cheap and cheerful is the name of the game when it comes to shipping items into Canada! Or even just buying something here...

Example I went into Future Shop a.k.a. Best Buy today and was shocked. a BASIC 4 channel amp $299+ and it was a sony.

Cheapest amp install kit was 109.99 and my cat craps better gauge than the included power wire.

I actually changed my system slightly to save a bit more money. It worked out good because when I called in the Sonix they said it would be longer to ship due to a cable being at another warehouse and they had to ship all items together due to international shipping regulations.. I ended up getting a better set of RCA's and a rebate $17.49

MB Quart ONX4.80
Kenwood KFC-1694PS
Kenwood KFC-C5793PS
Rockford Fosgate RFK4D
Rockford Fosgate RFIT-20
100 ft. of OFC 16 Gauge Speaker Wire

Rebate $17.49
Total paid: $452.64 shipped
