5x7 to 6x8 speakers

'11 f150 Sc, Will I need adapters to install 6x8 speakers in the doors or will they bolt right in. I know some say 5x7 and 6x8 are the same for the doors.

5x7 and 6x8 are the same and both should bolt in. I have had some that didn't line up perfectly with the stock screw holes though.

Go to www.crutchfield.com and put in what vehicle you have. They will show you everything that fits your truck.

Do yourself a favor and get some 6.5's.. You will be far happier! They will fit in the stock opening with a very inexpensive adapter plate.

Why would I be happier with 6.5" speakers?

The 6.5's, either as components or as coaxial's give a better response, better power handling, better sound.. Ever saw an oblong sub? The round speaker's just seem to do everything better from the accuracy of bass reproduction to the level of sound,to the overall imaging across the board. Plus you have far more choices and higher quality choices.

If you have a chance, go listen to some, as well as the 5x7/6x8's and decide for yourself.

I will do that, thanks. Have been looking at Infinity Kappas, do you have an alternate choice? I had MB Quart in my last truck and they were so-so............I do want a component set though to get the tweeters mounted higher.

Check some Alpine's, Boston Acoustics, Infinity's are nice, even some Pioneer's. Of cours if you go with components they will need to be run off an amp, most coaxial's will work with the stock head unit, but more power is always better! lol!

I would hit some local shops and just listen to whats in your price range and see what suits your personal taste in music. Everybody has their personal brand preference's.

Just did a factory tour online, these are hand made speakers from France. They have great reviews.

oh yea, Focal makes excellent stuff! Amp will be mandatory!!! I would look at something putting out a minimum of 50 watts rms as a minimum. What are you looking at long term? Just adding on to the stock setup" or a complete dash back rebuild?

A couple of things to keep in mind: Everything is only as good as the weakest link. If you are just looking for a little better sound than stock, replacing with coaxial's maybe adding a small amp, is budget friendly and gives good bang for the buck.

If you want to totally replace, a good head unit sets the stage for everything to follow. Decent amps, quality separates,subs.. These all compliment one another.

I have 3 Zapco reference amps, so I will have more than enough power. Also have a Pioneer 3300BT head unit and a 10" sub mounted in a box. I will probably use Infinity for the rear doors. This system was pulled from my 2006 Super Duty, I needed power to hear above the diesel engine.

Yea, my sub is an Image Dynamic. It is a very good musical subwoofer, really hits hard without the boom crud.

Good choice on the Focal's.

I am running these in my truck, best speakers I've ever owned.

I have listened to the Focal's at a local stereo shop and they are pretty impressive. But I did notice a big difference in sound quality in the Polyglass line over the entry level Access line
