upgrade help

I am currently running a kenwod ddx HU
with polk db571's in all 4 doors
alpine f300 amp 55wattsx4

My main goals are about 25% increase in volume
and add some low end I mostly listen to country so don't
need rumbling lows just nice hitting lows and more fill in the
low end.

I dont have thousands of dollars but am not a cheapo either.

Any thoughts are welcome.

What db rating are your speakers? 2 or 4 ohm? A 92 - 94 db rated 6x8" speaker will somewhat increase the volume and have better bass response than a 89 or 90 db rated 5x7" speaker. I would add a 10" sub if you already have a 5 channel amp. If no 5 channel amp, I would install two set's of two-way 6x8" speakers with a 92 db rating or higher.

It all comes down to how much you truly want to spend.

Everyone always says "i listen to country so I don't need much bass" or "I listen to hip hop so I was huge subs". I think it's the other way around. I listen to a bit of everything and on the pop/rap/hip hop stuff I turn the gain all the way down on my subs because the songs are already so bass heavy. On country and classic rock stuff I turn the gain about 3/4 of the way up because they have such little bass in the songs and I want some.

I agree with Blue07STX though, get a single 10" sub, then if you want more replace the door speakers.

Your description of music listening style sounds just like mine. See my sig line for my equipment list. It's perfectly suited to my listening style, has more than enough volume, and sound quality is superb for such a mundane setup.

Brad what is the watt rating on that amp, right now I have the alpine pushing the door speakers at Rms of 55 watts per channel I am thinking that would work and just add a mono amp and 10 inch sub.

50w to the doors and 300 to the sub.

Does your HU have a dedicated sub out?

no but my amp has a mixed unmuted out for a sub or I can run my front and rears off my front outs then use the rear outs as sub out.
also was looking at the atrend box it is listed as .60 ci airspace
but the id10 says it needs .75 ci?

thanks

I listen to mostly country, but I have a 15" sub in my truck. Country songs have a lot more low end bass that 10's won't pick up than you think. But if you want a decent 10 that won't break the bank I loved my Ascendant Audio Assassin, it went lower than my kicker 12 and was still able to go higher too.
