Custom center console box build
#31
Hopefully i can get the LEDs wired in tomorrow or this weekend so i can have it completely done. Between work and other jobs im surprised it didnt take me longer to finish this. Ill get pics up once they are wired.
So you mean the 10K worth of wood working equipment i have at my disposal gives me an edge? lol
Your right though, i do overall contracting/carpentry work but i like doing finish work/cabinetry the most. So naturally i enjoy the occasional box build. Thanks for your comment, and dont ever let one bad experience stop you from doing anything, trust me i would know.
Thanks.

The PTM parts were sanded to shape, body worked lighly then primed in a thinned down coat of automotive primer so the wood would absorb a bit of it. They were then shot with a few coats of regular mix primer.
They were placed outside in the south texas heat for almost a week for any potential bodywork/ imperfections that could come through. Nothing showed up so they were smoothed and prepped for paint, based and cleared. Have been fine ever since.
If you have screws in your finished area that you bodywork then i highly recommend doing the above then base and clear, then letting them weather for a month. Then resand reprime as necessary and do a base and clear again.
My visible areas were free from screws or build marks/fasteners so it finished out nicely. Its important to plan out the build so you dont have to pop a screw in right on top of your nice console. IF you notice the build pics there are no visible fasteners on the completed before paint pics.
