couple sub questions

i got a couple questions
1. how much width do i need for a 10" sub. they way it will sit my box is gonna be 11.5 wide on the outside and 10 on the inside. the sub only needs a 9 1/4 cutout so would that work?

2.i have a 400 watt 2 channel amp and was wondering if i could hook the two channels together and use them both to get more power to the sub.

I'm also running a kicker CVR 10" 4 ohm sub, they are rated a 200w rms per coil or 400w total. you can run more to it but be careful. I'm pushing mine with a kenwood 8404D and its rated at 500w rms @2 ohm and I have the sub wired up in a 2 ohm load and its just fine but I don't push it too hard for very long.

The 12volt has a good section on wiring your subwoofers to your amplifier

Are you going to run power to the fronts? If so I think running the sub off the rear channel at 2ohm would work. The Forgate web site only says this amp is 2-Ohms x 2 Bridged Stable. Not sure of the power it would produce or how hot it would get. Might want to try the sub at 4ohm first and see if the output is suitable.

See page 9 "the first wiring diagram" on the 400-4 owners manual.

From that you would wire the sub for 4 or 2 ohms.

See the12volt.com for that.

on the fosgate manual look at diagram 3 where it shows the amp set on 2 channels and running 1 sub off each side. instead of running one sub off each side could i run 1 coil off each side?
