did i blow a speaker already?
when i got the truck i had put a kenwood headset in it and JVC 6x8 3 way doors peakers in. i recently put an amp to the door speakers to get the most out of them. everything is good, except when a song comes on with alot of bass, the drivers door speaker "claps" whenever the bass hits. it works fine otherwise, but the clap gets annoying. the speaker looks good visually, and it isnt physically hitting anything. is it blown?
oh and im not over powering the speaker. there 240 max, 40 RMS and im putting 35 RMS to each.

Here is your problem, the speakers are made for higher frequencies, and it is not getting filtered sound to it, just amplified. If you have a low pass filter or bass booster or any of that stuff on the amp, turn it all the way down.
Without more details, that sounds like what is happening to me anyway. Turn the bass down all the way on the headunit and crank the volume up.
I just noticed you are in NJ, that could also be a problem!

Never use a bass booster setting, it is made for music from before bass. If you listen to Mozart, there is no bass, which is why Bass Boost was created, someone decided to put it on car amps though. It is a terrible feature that shouldn't be used, but if you were looking at 2 of the same amps for the same price, but one with it and one without, obviously you would think the 1 with it would be the better one. It is really more of a marketing thing. I have a 9100W AMP, and I can tell you there is no booster on it. I am not sure I have ever seen a real competition amp with a bass booster.
