jl 13tw5 up-firing??

hello there, my question is regarding if up-firing is better then down firing?? or is it just preference? I ask because I have never heard either of them in a truck and I will be going with two jl tw5 and I need a box for them and being so expensive and sexy looking I would like to not show them off but "advertise" them.. So any suggestion would be helpful thanks..

I would go with downfire. That way the speaker is protected. Sound wont matter.

thanks guys, one more. would any of you get the stealth box from jl?? or would you build your own??? since is pretty expensive just for one sub and I can get two of them for 320 with no box, but I contacted some guy and he can make one for 150 for the two subs which I think is better to go with two subs instead off one..

Definately go with two subs and get 150.00 box built. No brainer there.

i have a downfiring 13TW5 with a grill to protect it. Up or down it doesnt make a difference for sound because you're still moving the same amount of air (unless your sub is hitting a surface such as your seat or floor which i hope it's not). But i would recommend down. Also my custom box goes underneath 2 of my back seats leaving the one seat with the jack still there. You won't be able to fit 2 of them with the right airspace (you can physically fit them but it'll sound bad). Also since you have never heard one i'd recommend just going with one. Trust me, it blows all of my friends systems away. Look at my pics and you can see what it looks like

If you want the most bang for the buck get 2 SI BMs, I love mine. Enough airspace under the seat for 2, and they outdisplace the JL tw5 1 on 1. Oh yeah, and they cost half as much.

Downfiring for sure.

If I had to do it over again I think I would go with the SI BMs but I'm not the least bit unhappy with my single 13TW5. It produces much more bass than I'll ever need, sounds great, and blends well with my other system components. I would not pay full retail for it though...... I paid $330 from an authorized dealer.

thanks again, and as far for the seats, I was thinking of the box being the length of the whole bench or would that be to big of a box?? or should each sub have their own chamber but still being that long?? also I want to go with the JL Audio XR570-CSi or JL Audio ZR570-CSi for the front and back. Ohh yes and what size amp would be good for the components?

400 true watts per set is adequate.
