New to audio so be gentle

I just yesterday hooked up my 2 12's and a 350 amp to my Alpine IVA-W205 and it works great when I'm listening to the radio but as soon as I switch to a CD or my Ipod the amp shuts off. Did I miss a wire somewhere? Like I said this is my first attempt at anything audio so any help would be great.

You hooked up your amp remote wire to the radio harness power antenna lead instead of the remote lead. Thats why its only working with the radio. Pull it back out, and swap the wires.

No problem - its a very easy mistake to make if you aren't paying close attention.

LOL, I did the same thing first time I hooked up my own radio. It about killed me. But you know what? I hooked up a friend's Kenwood for him and the solid blue wire only worked with the radio, and the blue wire with white strip turned the amp on all the time. I'm still perplexed with it, and I never figured out why it did that. I have the same headunit as you, the IVA-W205. How do you like it? I must say it's the best headunit I've used for Ipod controls.

I love the head unit. Its the first one I ever bought that was aftermarket, so used to stock radios. Been trying to get online to get new backgrounds for it but Alpine website is not helping at all.

I got a couple of backgrounds a while back. I wish I could find the files. I just bought my girlfriend a 205, and got both of us the B200 Blackbird. I will say, I think I enjoy my headunit now that I can put a 4 gig SD card in the Blackbird and use my phone with it.

Haha, don't feel bad, I'm sure many of us have done that in the past. I know I have...
