Box Build!

well I decided to build a new box, I was/tired of my W6s being smashed when the seat was sat on. So i decided to build a down fire setup, and i also hope i gained more airspace out of it as well.

I will say this, this box has been a pain in the *** and will be a pain the *** to take out and put in. This box is all 3/4 which makes it a heavy *** mother!

here are some pictures of what i did today.

had to cut a notch in the side, part of the seat lift was hitting the box! Damn seat lift doesn't sit straight! Its sucks how much that middle bracket take up from the air space.

this is a side by side comparison, one is up fire other is down

im running 12's and i separate them because i do really care for common chamber. Also if one subs blows the other one wont get damaged.

Last time i had a common chamber my subs at high volume on certain notes would be on diff beats. I divided them up and that problem went away. I think its the way the air flow is on the passenger side coming through that small area throws the other one off.

im a big fan of separating them too, if they are not they had better be on the same amp, if not it will cancel out and could cause damage to the subs, and like you said if one goes both will probably go

looks like the box turned out great, hopefully you can get the kind of sound and output you are hoping for with this new box. I gave up on the seat lift along time ago. I never really liked it at all or how my back seat sat on it.

i couldnt agree any more. the seat lift isnt all that great. But i spent the money might as well keep it. Yea im hoping for some good output, just been looking at different drivers now.

So far i have looked into

DC sounds
RD audio
Fi Audio

so many subs to choose from..

I can fit my w6's in there but i want to try something new. Tired of running these subs now. Will be selling them here shortly too.

I would get on some audio forums and try and find some v3 mags. They would fit in that box plus rock your world. I'm sure there's a pair out there. I see them pop up on ca.com from time to time. I forgot you had already tried and ssa icon. I really want some jbl wgti's but the only way to get that kind of quality is with a blow thru.

You could also try the Memphis shallow mount 12" subs.... they do 500 watts, heard they were pretty good. They are only 3" deep.

Why would he want shallows when he has a seat lift

i love my ssd, i had it before the btl, 12" bp option and flatwind coil on about 800-900 watts sealed in 1 cube, it was ok, then i went with a 2.1 cu. ft. @ 33hz and it was awesome! loved it, sounded very good and lots of output. i love it soo much i took out the 6.5" woofer in my creative 7.1 surround sound for my pc and just hooked it up to the ssd, its seeing about 25w rms and its pretty loud being in my room on such low power.
