Sure, 2 10" subs under the seat isn't going to break record SPL records, but my XBL^2 Adire drivers are so incredibly clean and distortion free at high volume that I don't care (even down to ~25Hz). PLENTY loud for me.

If your subs are as clean sounding as you say I would put them in my truck if you really recommend them.
They aren't made anymore and are impossible to find. Sorry, but there are other options out there. I recommend going to shops and listening to stuff until you find something you like.

Got them used. Still expensive, but IMO well worth it. I haven't installed them yet but just playing around with them on the receiver I can tell its going to sound pretty awesome.

My amps aren't the brand new ZED ones, but are old school ZED built 4 channels. They are super ugly, but sound great and have high quality internals from back when amps were built well. Regulated power supplies as well, so they do rated at 12V.

Has anyone else heard the thin mount JL sub I believe they are the W5's. I know they are expensive, but I was wondering if anyone knew if there was another kind out there that was as good for less.

Rockford P3 shallows are pretty decent bang for the buck now that they've fixed the cracked cone issues they were having.

you my friend are alot braver than me. i dont think i could bring myself to buy used speakers from anyone unless they were just dirt cheap. used amps maybe but not speakers you just dont know how they were treated.

ahh old school amps. they just dont build them like they used to anymore. its funny when you think about it with all the new technology now, that amps from 10 years ago will still out perform new amps today in power output and sound quality. Cause nowdays your lucky to get an amp that can even do rated power much less more than rated , but take old school amps that most often did rated power and then some. But that was back when quality was more important than quantity.

I hear ya on the used speakers. I normally wouldn't either, and was very careful about picking these out. I would never get them on ebay, got them from a trust worthy forum member. The tweeters were very lightly used and the mids are going to be BNIB. Getting lightly used high dollar speakers for 70% off is a good deal to me (and "dirt cheap" for what they are lol). Sure no warranty, but I know what I'm doing. Once I had heard these speakers in a couple different installs I fell in love and just had to have them.

The amps are great. I can send them to Zed and have them modified to put out 15% more power if I wanted. But the plan right now is to bridge one for 160x2 to tweeters and bridge the larger one for 240x2 to the mids which is gobbs of power/headroom, so I doubt I'll need an upgrade.

So the old school amps are that much better then the newer amps? And if so I'm guessing that the only place to get them is ebay.

For what you are looking to do, any new budget amp should be just fine. Until you really invest a lot into your system and time into your install, the difference between most amplifiers is negligible.

That is fair enough, yesterday I ordered $500 worth of sound dampening for the truck from second skin audio. And I will be ordering everything else next week I believe I am going with the JL 13 inch sub and kappa speakers.

Its not for the rattling its more to get rid of the road noise and make it a nice quiet little area..

I have 2 10s and it can sure rattle my truck, even with all the dampening I've done. Its weird, you dampen the doors then you realize the floor vibrates. Do the floor, next thing you hear is the roof. Until you get it all, there is always a small nuisance. i still need to do my roof but with the sunroof its going to be a huge PITA.

Big Blue, do yourself a favor and don't get Infinity speakers. You are investing a lot into sound dampening which is a great idea, now get some high powered components in there to make it worth the effort.
