dynomat alternatives? (cheaper)
dynomat alternatives? (cheaper)
This is for a guy at work asking about it. I read somewhere a long time ago on my old ranger forum where guys were using somthing similar to dynomat that you can buy at the hardware store and had good results. I'm just not sure what its called. It will be used on a hyundai(again not mine
) to help stop some of the road noise. He just doesnt want to spend a fortune.
Sound dampening is one of those things that you really cant go cheap. Sure there are cheaper products out there, but they are less effective and by the time you have enough of it to match the performance of the high quality stuff, you've spent more than you would have if you just bought the quality stuff right off the bat. Additionally, the lower quality mats do not hold up well to heat, are a PITA to install, and smell and get messy. Trust me on this one...spend the money and get the proper material. Secondskin's damplifier and soundeadener showdown CLD tiles are really great products, as well as Raamat. These products are to reduce vibrations.
For reduced road noise you can apply celled foam pads, something like luxury liner for Secondskin.

fat mat, raamat, edead, i have used the peal n seal insulation from lowes and i had great results w/ it and for only 14 dollars a roll i couldnt go wrong and i know coobies will back me up on that one
Anymore info on this peal n seal inulation? Like what area of the store its in? What is the "real" use for this stuff?
Quality doesnt really matter, this car is strictly a work car he bought totaled. We just totaly cleaned the interior like new and painted the whole car. This is a car he only uses to save gas, his other vehicle is a 95ish 4x4 f150. He just wants a little more comfortable drive since he drives about 100 miles to work round trip. Thanks for all the help guys.
I used some stuff I mixed up that is similar to "lizardskin"....I'll see if I can find the link to it.
buildup of my fairmont thread
Lizard skin alternative <----this thread is kinda long but it's a good read
