Post Boston Acoustic 6.5 Components

I am swapping out my Infinity components for Boston Acoustic Pro Series 6.5 Components. Those of you that have installed these where did you mount the tweeter? I am considering the sail panels. "The triangle area by the pillar." I also like the axis mount. However, I am not sure of the imaging.

Also, where did you mount the massive crossovers?

Any help would be appreciated. I will be installing them tomorrow.

Thanks,
Todd

You may have to experiment on the tweeter location. I would fist try the little axis mount bar they give you for the tweeter.
For the crossover you have 4 choices.
(1)you can put them next to your amps.
(2)you can put them under the drivers seat.
(3)You might be able to hide them under the dash somewhere.
(4)You could allways put them in the door, inbetween the vapor barrier, and the door panel, but make sure you seal them up good if you put them in the doors.

Did you have 6.5 inch speakers in the door before, and if you did how much metal did you have to cut out.I am putting some Boston Pros in my truck too, and am debating the 5.5 and the 6.5 pros
Good luck
Don

Thumbs up

I put my crossovers in the door so I wouldn't have to pull additional wires.
I mounted them the the side impact beam.

Don C...

I have 6.5" Infinity Kappas (triaxials) in my truck and didn't have to cut any metal at all. I just bought some plastic speaker adapter plates to mount them in the doors. These adapter plates are just a flat piece of plastic in the shape of a 6x8 speaker that have a cutout for a 6.5" speaker. Just bolt the speakers to the adapter plate, then screw the adapter plate to the the existing speaker screw holes...no cutting whatsoever.

Well I never got around to installing the components. I will be using the same plastic adapter MattT spoke of. I did get the new head unit in though. Beautiful!! A perfect match to the DSP.

If anyone is interested. I have a Sony ES CDX-7850 in the box, never been used, with warranty. $300.00 Plus Shipping

Also, MTX BlueThunder PRO4X50 used a few days. Still under warranty. $300.00 Plus shipping. Solid amp. I ended up going with the PPRO4X75

Question

To those of you who have BA speakers (especially the 6.5" Pro Series), where did get them and how much did you pay, including shipping? Also, are all the "Pro Series" 3 way, or do they make 2-way Pro Series as well?
Finally, what's the best to get those adapter plates you guys refer to?

BA makes both 2 & 3 way "Pro" series.

I picked mine (2 Way) up for 325.00 and some change.

You can pick up the mounting plate up at just about any car stereo shop. I will be making my own to provide better imaging.

Yeah....... I STILL have not installed them!?

Getting ready to go to Jackson Hole for a few weeks.

Question

Do the 3 way's have a separate midrange component?
Also, where did you buy your 2-way's at that price?

Yes, the 3 way's are three speakers. I buy most of my stuff at Newport Auto Sound. As a matter of fact most of the stuff in my truck has been special ordered through him. I have thrown him some good customers. In return, he cuts me some pretty nice deals. I didn't even question him. When I was at the "GOOD GUYS" the other day I saw them for around $450.00......

i have the B.A. 6.5 components....they friggin' rock...i mounted them on the little triangle piece on the doors ..they sound o.k. but for better imaging and more even distance from the driver try the very corners of the top of the dash where it meets the windshield that would be a more optimum placement...

Question

To those of you who have the BA 6.5" Rally installed in the front and/or rear of your SuperCabs, were you able to just mount the woofers ("midranges") in the factory locations using adapter plates with no drilling or cutting? This was asked before, but the only response I've seen is for the Kappas, which Crutchfield has already answered!
Thanks,
John
