New stuff on order

Eventually i'll do a build thread if i feel that i can compare to some of the others around here but so far this is whats on order:

(2) RE SE 10" subs-dual 2ohm VC (slightly used)
(1) Eclipse ZA1200 1,000W at 4OHMS and 1,200W at 2OHMS (slightly used)
(1) Pair of ID OEM mids ID OEM MIDS

(2) Raamat Sound Deadener (Ordered 1/25)
(1) ID NX30 Tweets (1/26)

(1) P880PRS (2/02)

Thats whats on order so far.

Looking at these for rear fill, Obviously i don't wanna spend alot of money on it as most of the time it'll be faded to the front, but people do sit back there from time to time.

Looking at these for tweets

P880PRS

I'm just gonna dive in head first and try to go active with this. I'll learn as i go and i might just screw it all up but i'll learn something thats for sure.

For front stage amp duties i'm almost sure that i want to go with the Apline PDX 4.150 as i don't have much space to work with and its very very small for the large amount of power it puts out.

Wires i havn't even thought that far yet. I've been racking my brain with this much so far.

All opinions, complaints and ADVICE is welcome.

Scott

Looking at either the Pioneer Premier DEH-P880PRS or the Alpine CDA-9887 for head units.

Ehh, the iPod interface sucks because of the CD-IB100II box (which I really think may be older than I....)

And the BT will be an external device on it, but am not really sure how it will react.

thats what i've been reading, which is kinda pushing me towards the 9887. But i havn't found a definate answer as to whether there is enough aux plug ins to run both bluetooth and the Ipod hook up. Both are important to me, Ipod more so than bluetooth if i had to go without one.

I also forgot to say that things will be deadened heavily when they are apart.

I also might get ahold of you for some wire. I saw the list of what you had but i forgot. Its the kicker ultra flex stuff isnt it?

that ZA1200 recommends 1/0 just by itself? would i be fine running a single run of 1/0 and a 4 guage distro to the other amp/amps?

Still undecided on either the Eclipse XA4200 or the PDX 4.150. Leaning towards the PDX cuz its so dang small. Any expirience with either?

I ran 1/0 to the ZA1200 when I first got it and then later on when I bought the XA4200 I put in a distro block and ran 4 to both amps. It never hurts to go bigger so it may be wise to make 2 runs of wire -- 1/0 to the ZA1200 and 4 to the XA4200. The ZA1200 is fused @ 160 amps and the XA4200 is fused @ 80 amps so you're looking at 240 amps total if you go that route. That's quite a bit!

I have the ipod interface with CD-IB100II box with my 880PRS and its perfectly fine. Its actually a lot better than most of the other ipod-compliant decks i've used/seen.

To the OP: Dont forget to budget for sound deadening. 20% equipment 80% install. Your system will only sound as good as the install.

Also: rear fill sucks. Dont waste your money on it. People sit in my backseat all the time, i've never had a single complaint about a lack of sound back there.

Deadening will come later, this is just the order a few things at a time then let the bank account recover period.

Anyone used the Apline 9887? seems to be a pretty popular deck also and most people compare it directly to the P880PRS.

Still have to figure out if i can use the Bluetooth module and the Ipod module at the same time.

Almost positive you can. I dont have the bluetooth module for my 880prs yet, but theres a slot for it right next to the ipod slot. no reason why you shouldn't be able to.

For front 2-way active + sub, this deck is really tough to beat (besides the DRZ). Honestly, it does it all.

It does seem to be a very nice deck, getting great reviews for the most part. Gonna try and look for a used one i think though. Still like the way that 9887 looks though lol. I've got awhile to decide though i guess. But you two seem to love your P880PRS decks. Its a pretty sharp deck too. hmmmmm where to spend my moneys.

P.S. Anyone got any other ideas for tweeters besides the ones i listed.
I'm considering a PDX 4.150 bridged for those ID OEM mids and a PDX 2.150 for the tweets, or just a PDX 4.150 to run both of them, so that should give you an idea of the power i want to put to them.

Been looking into my power wire, and adding that third amp adds ALOT of cost to the install of the wiring not to mention the cost of the amp itself. I can always add a third amp later i guess. The kicker will will support it. With the ZA1200, PDX 4.150 and PDX 2.150 i'd be looking at 250A total and the KKR is fused for 300A.

Who the hell needs a 900 watt rms front stage anyway??? I think the 4.150 will do with 600 watts for a little while anyway.

It wouldn't be so bad if that ZA1200 didn't take 1/0 all on its own.

Kicker wiring Distro block and the extra power wire from knuKonceptz to make three amps work.

Otherwise all i would need is the KKR wiring and a different set of Distro blocks and that would be that.

Opinions???

Three amps would be cool though....

P.S. I hate making decisions

Scott holla at me and we can figure out what it would cost for wire.
That and I also have the XA4200's bout to go in.

Yes via the P-Bus you can run the BT and the iPod. The BT will showup as an EXT though, and I know that will diminish the options possible with it. The best thing to do if you decide on the Pioneer and need BT is pickup a Parrot and wire that in as well.

I would do a bunch of sound deadening before adding a 3rd amp. It will make a much bigger difference.

But once you get that done, the sound deadening + 3 amps is SWEET.
