2-10's or 1-12"
I am finally getting around to upgrading my stereo in my truck. I have an 05 supercab. I have decided to go the prefab box route. I am thinking either a MTX Thunderform with 1-12 or a Bassworx box with 2-10's. I don't want to break the bank and it is for rock music. I am getting a Pioneer DEH-p5000ub head unit to start with. I am thinking I can get better value out of the bassworx system with pioneer shallow mount subs.

I had 10's and changed to 12's and don't regret it. same brand and everything. the 12's can play what 10 do and some of what a 15 can. just make sure the rms watts of the amp is a little higher than the subs to aid in the amp running cooler. mono block amp that is 1 ohm stable and 2 dvc 12's that are 4 ohm per coil. build box to spkr spec. stand by for the back rub.LOL

My choices in the box are the MTX Thunderform and the bassworx F150X210B. These are what the local shop carries. The Thunderforms are very expensive and I am thinking I can get a better system with the bassworx box for about the same amount of money. I am just looking at adding bass to the system not having bass be the focus of the system. The Head unit will be a Pioneer DEH-p5000ub. Speakers are front component TMA 5.25" and rear 5x7 Kenwood (can't remember model #). Again it is for rock music I never listen to rap.

Can't stress that enough !!!
It's all about the box!
And anybody who doesn't believe it, is destined to waste a lot of time and money, until they finally figure this out for themselves......... Or, they simply give up, and walk away very frustrated.
Peace,

PS, It was a VERY long time ago, but I was one of those dum-basses who kept thinking.... Well what about more power ? Well what about bigger subs ? Surely their must be some other way, besides more cubes (I was dealing with a reg cab Chevy S10).
Well, I finally hacked out a big cutout between the bed and cab, and made a box with the exact cubes and porting recommended by the sub manufacturer.... and Bam ! I guess they were right ! :-)
