Woofer setup for Extended Cab?

Sorry if this has been covered, but I've been reading up, and most of the discussions seem to cover SCrews. I just got a nice gift card for Crutchfield, so I plan on doing a system makeover. My biggest dilemma is how to mount a sub in this truck for a reasonable price. Anyone have experience with the MTX Thunderform? I'm open for suggestions here, but price will be a factor.

Well, I guess that's not easy to determine. My local shop wants $700 for a custom box, and $600 for the woofer to go in it. That's a bit much. The MTX seems too cheap to be good. Is there a happy medium out there?

ouch.. what are you looking for? just a box and sub?

Do you already have a sub woofer amp and are your door speakers upgraded? DO you have a new head unit?

Go to a different shop. You should be able to get a decent box built for 200-250, then get a subwoofer. ED or ID both make nice subs that fit under the seat in the 100-150 dollar range.

Semi-related but I was looking at the Seleen sub box pre-loaded and it seems like a good deal but ti only says it fits the Screw, seems dumb but wouldn't the area directly under the seat would be the same in a SC and a Screw?

Yea, I knew that shop's price was outrageous. I don't have any new components yet, but I do plan a full system upgrade. I am looking at a Kendwood DPX503 H/U, Boston or JL speakers, and I'm undecided on amplifier brands.

Thanks for the advice on brands mSaLL. I am not familiar with ED or ID. Who sells those brands?

Well, I think I've found a decent option. A local shop proposed the JL 8" mid-bass driver - ZR800-CW. They will mount in the rear door speaker locations, with some sheet metal mods and some Dynamat. They will be powered by a bridged pair of channels from an Alpine PDX-4.150, with the other pair of channels driving the front speakers(I'm still undecided on that choice, because I'm stretching the budget a little). I'm thinking it's a low risk proposition, because if I'm left wishing I had more bottom end performance, I still have the option to install an enclosure like the MTX unit. BTW - the salesman said that he has ordered in that MTX for customers before, but he replaces the driver with a quality unit - not a bad idea... Anyway, the 8" JL's will be $400 for the pair, plus another $125 for the install. Whaddayathink?

JL audio makes a stealth box that fits under the rear seat. Should cost you about $700, box and speaker. Knowing JL, that thing should slam. I put in a 12" pioneer shallow. It moves alot of air, but isn't a good solution if you like rock.

I swapped out my 12" pioneer shallow for a 12" rockford fosgate shallow. Wow. RF is the way to go if you want a shallow sub. I listen mostly to rock, and it performs well.
