ok, what i really don't understand is mtx's whole "smoking the competition" thing.
whats the big deal about running 100+ volts to a sub?

yea, more volts is more power.....sort of, but so what?

i mean, i guess if they specifically told you how many amperes they were doing it would make sense. but why wouldn't they say how many watts or by how much they are overpowring the sub? every time i watch that, i just think to myself, "ok, so if i decide to plug my sub into the outlet in my wall, it would still work. cool."

and not to be bashing on mtx, but why do they need 7 different series of subs, each with at least 2 different variations?
JL has 5
Alpine has 4
Orion has 4
Kicker has 6.....
yet MTX has a total of 14 different subs, not including all the different sizes of each.
i really DONT hate mtx, i just wonder why the hell they have so many product lines

JL has 5 but there are different VC configs... Totaling 11 different configs (excluding size...)
Alpine has 5 (E new and old) but again with different VC configs. Totaling 7.

Orion has 4 but totals 7.

Kicker has 8 but totals 12.

MTX has 14 but totals 26. = MOST OPTIONS and choices!!!

Its very easy to find the amps. Just do the math... Voltage/Resistance = Amps. Amps x Voltage = Wattage

142.0V is insane.

142V/8ohms = 17.75A. 142V x 17.75A = 2520W!
142V/4ohms = 35.5A. 142V x 35.5A = 5041W!!
142V/2ohms = 71A. 142V x 71A = 10082W!!!!
142V/1ohm = 142V. 142V x 142A = 20164W!!!!!!

Just gonna throw this out there, If im a hobo with no money. For the little money I get why would I buy a subwoofer? I mean I just didnt really get that.

here 24/7 to be a ****

But to the guy on jl's and mtx's nuts. No way.MTX is alright for people who go to circuit city or best buy to buy subwoofers. I would take a MTX over a Audiobahn any day. As for the Jl's ya JL makes a pretty descent sub, but for the price they charge, there is so so so much better out there. There both good companies, I would take JL over MTX, but I would take near anything in the price range of a jl from another company.

Yes I did , I took 2ND place out of 26 vehicles in my class . I was very happy considering the speakers , amplifiers and subwoofers I am using , are made by company's that SUCK .

Thats it , I'm a Hobo with no money . I guess I should start saving my pennies so I can buy JL and Boston , just because another young punk( know it all) installer told me to . I've seen Waaaaaay to many of your kind in the last 25 years . If you want to stand by the products you sell & install, thats fine and expected , but please don't bash product's that you have no clue about .

see that makes a hell of a lot more sense. why wouldn't they tell you that, 20000 is a bigger number than 142. bigger number=better marketing
