Just bouncing ideas (building my system)
Just bouncing ideas (building my system)
I have a 2006 Super Cab 4x4 with the floor shifted transfer case.
As we all know, there is pretty much no way to get a couple of quality woofers in these trucks without a custom rear seat lift. The problem with that however, is that you have to relocate the jack and tools, as well as find a place to mount the amplifiers.
I have a different plan for my truck:
-I already have an Eclipse CD7100 installed and ready to rock, so step 1 is covered. https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...eclipse+cd7100
-Boston Pro Series 6.5" component speakers will be installed in the front and rear doors.
-2 Boston G510's will be installed in a custom center console/box along with a Boston GTR10 tunable radiator.
-Amps are to be determined
Basically, I am going to build a center console to replace my jump seat. I can't make it a 'flow through' style because of my transfer-case shifter, so it will butt-up to the t-case shifter and be more like the XLT center console. The difference beign that it will house 2 drivers and a radiator. I am a ways off from buying any speakers, but I might go grab a sheet of MDF and get started on the enclosure...
Two down firing 10's and a rear firing radiator ought to fill the cab up nicely. I will also have plenty of space under the rear seat to mount my amps.

I think I have the same interior configuration as you minus the floor shifter. Is there any way to take out the middle seat without losing the console(cupholders, storage compartment...)? I've been thinking about doing the same thing only one 12 instead of two 10s.
a radiator is basically a subwoofer without the magnet and motor assembly, what it does is takes the airspace that is used by the subwoofer and as the air is moved around it causes the radiator to move which produces more bass
I plan to keep arm rests and cup-holders in my setup, but it will involve some custom work.

I've got 3 10" subs in a custom built center console.... still in progress. Tight fit to get all 3 in w/ a console shifter (FX4), but it's all together. Working on the arm rest portion of the box right now, will be done shortly. The idea is definitely do-able, just have some patience.
*System Update* Let's call this revision .01 to my previous plan.
The change is minor on paper, but large in terms of improving listening enjoyment and musical acuracy (and price).
System Version 1. 01.
Boston SPZ60 component system front (replaces the Pro60 in the front stage)
Boston Pro60 component system rear
Two (2) Boston G510-4 10" subwwofers
Boston GTR10 passive radiator
I am fairly certain I am going to run Boston amps as well. They are relatively inexpensive and have won me over in terms of sound quality, efficency and power output. The only A/B amps I have heard that sounded as good as the Bostons are the Arc Audio signature series, but at nearly double the cost. So to that end, I think I will install:
Boston GT42 4-channel amp for the mids/highs
Boston GT28 2 Channel amp for the subs
I will use Stinger HPM wiring throughout the install, Dynamat and Dynaline key locations and as needed. The biggest headache with this project is going to be building the center console enclosure and the amp rack(s).

From the listening of them that I do have (other people's vehicles and such) they are pure sex. Clean, loud and full of mid bass.
