will the carpet stop the sub from sealing will it not make it air tight or shoud I trim the carpet around the sub at mount points?

 

I have my sub screwed down around the carpet and havent had any problems...I think most of the subs are that way.

 

I would NEVER have carpet in between sub and wood on a sealed box, if ported maybe it would be fine, but I still wouldn't no it then..

 

I havent had any air leakage with the sub being over the carpet. if you are worried, just put some RTV silicone (the stuff you use to seal a box) around the edge of the opening before placing the sub in

 

Thats smart... Especially since carpet is air tight....

Just curious - where are you guys finding the actual carpet? I've looked everywhere without luck.

 

You will NOT get a seal with the carpet between the box and the sub.


Screw the sub in with the carpet in, take a utility knife and cut into the carpet around the outside of the sub, then take the sub out and pull the carpet off...
