For less than 100 you can get the Dayton's that's what I'm using ,I believe Hertz has a lower line that's around this price, also they have some real tasty looking shallow mount 8" like the old Illusions. For A little more around 120 you can move up to an Usher.Oh yeah those Kickers can sound Really good but it takes gobs of power like 300watts per speaker to really get them going.

Thanks for the info. If I end up doing the Hertz, I wouldnt go anywhere but the Milli or High Energy.. HV 165, HV 200, ML 1600, or the ML160... And my guess is between 350 and 800

scroll down to the f-150 and look at the picture of the door.

The Subs in these doors would probably hurt the sound a little as they are 8in woofers but its great for ideas, a 3 way component set might be better with a 6.5 inch midbass woofer in place of those subs. JL had a 3 way component set i dont know if you could find them anymore but they sounded great. JL also makes the 6.5in W3 or the 8 W3 which have shallow mounting depths and only need like .15 cu ft and .3 for the 8in, easy to make a glass box for. especially on a door.

I doubt it would hurt my KP install... Good idea. I just dont like how they got rid of the pockets. Those are my God. If I end up doing those it will be where the factory 5x7 was.

Update: I have just started my KP install. I will be posting pics soon. I plan on ordering Black CF vinyl to wrap the Kicks in. I also am in the process of vinyl wrapping my Dash kit. I also will be Fiberglassing a sub box between the back of the Center Console and the middle rear seat.

Sounds awesome... looking forward to seeing some pics and you have a really nice truck by the way, love the black. I am in the process of switching everything out in my truck, I was thinking about going with JL's 6.5in c5 components up front, probably just some co-axial speakers in the rear, and 2 W3v3 10's under the seat. the subs will be on JL's 1000/1 amp or the a1800, and the mids and highs on the 300/4. Im after SQ, and to be honest i have never put anything half way decent in an f150 so I'm not sure how it sounds, some input would be nice.

edit: i plan on dynamatting the sh"" out of everything.

Thanks bro. I plan on blacking it out completely. I saw someone here has their badges blacked and all, itll be done...

If you havent bought the c5's yet, Ill practically give you a set of the XR 5x7s Components...

DYNAMAT the back wall and inner and outer skins of the door. Then if you have more do the floor and then the roof. In that order.

The F150 was never designed to be a SQ God... It is made to work... KP's and custom enclosures are about all you can do in there. Plus, a good Dig EQ...

i will have plenty of dynamat available to use, i get it cheap through my shop. i plan on doing everything at one time. As for the Xr's, they have the metallic dome tweeter which i don't like, and also i want round speakers, just more of a preference to what i like. thanks though.
I saw a blacked out lifted gmc the other day, it makes it look so nice. I love the look, but i would hate to clean one... a day later and its already dirty.

Did you finish the kicks and whatever else you were working on?

What do you consider "cheap"? And is this stuff worth the money/hassle? I know if I buy it through like... Best Buy or something, it's apparently worth its weight in gold, as like 10 sq. ft. is like $100. I don't really want to spend more money on sound dampening than I spend on my speakers and box... Do you reckon you could get some cheap and then sell it to me? Please? Buddy? Pal? Chum of mine? **flirty eyes**

Actually that metallic dome suprisingly doesnt sound like one at all... It sounds more silky. I have the Ring Radiator Tweeter (Vifa) and its more tinny than the JL's were... Go figure

Ehh, no. I havent had the time. I get about 45 min to get whatever I can get done, done. And thats per week.

Cleaning is a BITC*

Thats to bad, i know what you mean about being busy. I had to buy a prefab box because i have absolutely no time to make one. its actually embarrassing to say i bought this box. blah i dont even want to think about it, but i did modify it to fit the subs i wanted with the right amount of airspace. 2 JL 10W3v3's under the backseat downfiring. I am trying to get rid of my 12 eclipse titanium now... if anybody is interested. Anyways, sell those speakers to the guy above this. Sounds like he wants them.

Also, i checked my price for the 36 sq ft bulk pack of dynamat and the price was the same as ebay's, so im going to just get mine off, same price, and i dont have to mail a letter to the manufacturer. So your better off just doing that.

Will 36 sq ft cover everything in a screw? headliner, backwall, floor, 4 doors inner and outer?

nah. I used a bulk pack on my doors alone. (Supercab..)

I will if he PMs me. I dont care if I do or dont anymore...

Mine is in a prefab on the seat currently.... I HATE IT! But its getting the job done and for a prefab ported box does pretty decent... Tuned too high for my liking but ya know...
