Well when deciding how much draw you will have you need to always look to your weakest link: the stock alternator in this case. What are they, like 135? That sad, I think the 150 would be perfect. If you trip it when cranking your system look into stepping it up (and keep the spare you mentioned in your glove box).

Also, about the caps... most that really do intense research decide that caps are generally not worth adding, and in some cases can actually harm your entire electrical system. If you get any, most suggest the "Batt Cap" which is really just a battery specially designed to release charge as quickly as a cap (From my understanding, at least).

If you still want a cap though, and can return the one you bought for a decent amount of cash I do have a few laying around...brushed aluminum cylinders (Voodoo brand, but removed the stickers) with blue LED readouts. I'll ship it to you for free...you pay shipping only( $10?).

 

i'd get my money back for the caps and invest in a HI output alt instead

I'd try it with the stock alternator first. I ran about 1500w or so on the stock alt with just a yellow top up front. My stock alt is only the 110amp jobby though, so since I am going bigger now I have a mean green 200amp alt waiting to install, heard nothing but good from them. It was 369+shipping:

Glad I saw this, I have a run of 4ga and a run of 8ga running through that same grommet already, didn't think 1/0 hyperflex would fit, thanks for showing that it will. That'll save me some time

LOL, I did not, but it did cross my mind once I got the back cover off I did use 3 layers which should help.
I was even thinking of doing the underside of the cab and outside backwall, the stuff I used looks very close to the butyl stuff and is made for the outdoors.
