BEST subwoofer list please!

What is the BEST single sub to put with my amp. I have a Sony Xplod amp that is 1200 peak and 500x1 RMS 4 ohm. I was looking at the JL 10w7 or 12w7, but is there a better bang for the buck? Kicker L7 series??? $800 is a lot for ONE sub! I have 2 10" sony xplod's right now but they were cheap and don't quite hit like I want. I am trying to get a lot of bass and am willing to shell out some decent money on the sub this summer when I am working full time. Thanks guys!
Oh I would like a 10", but I know the 12" will give a lot more bass right? I am pretty amateur when it comes to auido, but I did all of the wiring and custom box building in my gallery and it works well. Thanks again!

way cheaper then a W7 and will outperform it by a mile.

Go check out realmofexcursion.com they did a 12" subwoofer challenge comparing all the best 12" subs out there. Fi subs dominated the competition, and the W7 was outperformed by multiple subs that cost much less then it.

Not necessarily. You can have a 12" sub with less excursion (distance the cone travels) and a 10" sub with more excursion with the same amount of power and they will move approximately the same amount of air. My personal favorite is the Memphis M1 or M3 series. The M1's have slightly less power handling (although they still fall in with your amps specs) and are slightly cheaper, but the M3's are just plain badass subs. I would recommend a single M3 10" on your amp in an appropriate sized box. Low_e_Red could probably help you out with designing a box if you give him the T/S Parameters (dont worry, the manufacturer usually includes these on a little sheet that comes with the sub). Sorry Low, didnt mean to volunteer you for something, but I just havent gotten the hang of WinISD yet, or I would gladly design one. But yeah, my vote=Memphis. Good luck with it.

Those are amazing prices! I will only be putting 500x1 rms at 4ohm into the 12" sub, $259 is amazing! I will probably get one 12" of those then, but will the 500x1 rms 4 ohm be enough to have some serious bass? I'm a little skeptical about it

I am going to use my existing box with the sub. My box is exactly the way I want it now, so I am going to plexiglass where the front sub is and put the new sub where the back sub is

Ok so I am going to move my existing system over to my POS car for next year at college. Then in my truck I will install one 10 or 12" and and amp then. What amp and sub combo will be the best then for under $500-600?

You will have to find a sub that works in that particular airspace. You cant just throw a sub in a box and hope it sounds good. There are certain specifications that must be met. A properly paired "low quality" speaker and enclosure will give you better output than a "high-dollar" sub and poorly paired enclosure. Its a long, drawn out explanation for a different thread, but thats basically the short of it. I'm sure someone else would like to elaborate a little more.

I will have to see the exact cubic ft I built it for but I think it was around 2.3 or something for the both 10's. I'll have to work it out I can always build a new one that isn't an issue. I can design and build something to fit a 10 or 12" sub's specs. I was just saying I like having my sub setup where it is and I'll modify it to fit the sub's specs.

I second Memphis. I have two M3s and love them. But you're going to be hard pressed to find a good sub/amp combo for under $600. Maybe eBay. If I remember right, my amp alone was $600.

ok assuming $400 for a mojo 12" Then I will need a 1000w rms amp for under $600 max. Thanks guys! Where should I buy the memphis sub?
My other question is how big will the difference be over the 10" sony xplods? They have 280rms to each i believe and the memphis will be 1000rms into one sub. I am assuming the memphis will kick *** over the sony system. Is it worth the $1000 is my question?
Also do I want a 2 ohm or 4 ohm amp that is 1000w rms?

Based on your box and the available air space, IDMAX would be my sub..

My box does not really matter, I can build any enclosure for it so that really isn't a big deal.
