JL or Focal?

I've narrowed my decision to Jl audio or Focal Audio. My plan is to go with either 5.25 or 6.5 components in the front and 5x7 coaxials in the rear.
With the Focal's I would be going with the polyglass speakers and with Jl I would be going with either the VR or XR series, I mostly listen to country music and rock music (metallica, linkin park, etc.) I plan to run this off of an A4300 amp by JL or a 300/4.

All help is appreciated, prices are comparable but I will pay a little extra for sound quality.

Also what do yall think of the JL w1 Series, is it good, for my kind of music or should I look elsewhere, I'm talking 10 inch size.

if you decide to go with JL i'd go with their XR series, the focals i've heard are lil more bassy that the jl's and i particularly didn't like the tweeters as much on the xr's. With either version though I'd go with the 6.5's over the 5.25 just because the 6.5's will normally have better midbass and handle more RMS power.

Neither. Rainbow far surpasses both of them and have a set that will meet any budget. You will not be disappointed guarenteed.

The JL XR's are beautiful. The tweeter is clear and bright (sounds like a silk dome) from an Aluminum tweet. I wouldnt stray too far from the XR. The mid is quick and can be changed from low to normal and high mid. So many settings with the crossover.

The Focals are nice but I think they are slightly overrated.

300/4 FTW

W1's if done right can rock the truck!

If you dont mind oval speakers... Low_e_Red has 2 sets of Jl 5x7 comps for sale. And a 300/4. Im sure he would cut you a deal on them.

Dang, I should be his marketing/PR guy...

Good luck either way.

I dont think he's selling a set. I think he was just saying that Rainbow makes a set for every budget.

Ok. Since you are going for the new PR man, if you sell them we will split it...

I actually ended up going with something completely different then what I had originally intended.

I will be going with 1 set of CDT ES-62i components up front, leaving the rear stock powered by a JL 300/2.

Also will be using a ported 8w3v3 under the rear seat powered by a JL a1200 amp running 2 ohms.

Thanks for all the help.
