Ya I'm bored to , so I'll bite . What is it with the younger generation ? I go to a competition nowadays , and I might see (maybe) 5 SQ vehicles and 100 SPL vehicles . Of those 5 , 3 of them have very poor installs, of the hundred SPL vehicles , all of them have poor installs . Do you think the younger generation even knows what a good car stereo or home stereo sounds like. Most of them don't know what an RTA is, or have ever seen one for that matter . They have grown up listening to music on ****ty computer speakers And drive around town with their 2 15's and 2 tweeters , thinking it sounds good . They need to realize that it is very easy to be loud (try sounding good). Back in the mid 90's when you went to a show , there would be at least 75 SQ cars ,all with badass installs and an install book to prove it . What has happened to car audio ?

its the spl bug man, everyone wants a number... its like drag racing, everyone wants the lowest ET, and most horsepower, forget canyon carving. every spl install is going to be crap, hell some of those guys cange setups so often that making it look good it the last thing they are worried about, then again tru SPL rigs are purpose built, so they can look like crap. I laugh at the guys with tweeters on their b-pillars... yes I knew a kid that did that. sadly noone knows what sound good anymore, let alone anything about propper imaging and staging. kids think their 2.1 logitec is hardcore, hell I have a 5.1 setup hooked to my computer and I HATE it, the sub cuts off below 40hz, 80-150 is muddy and the ported box spekers are seriously "boxy" around 250hz. and I'm already a step ahead of 99% of computer "systems" for some reason, and I don't know why, kids thing is the low lows and da high high are loud then its a bangin system. I remember my buddies s-10, with the 4-8K cranked so high everything sounded like metallic death. I don't mind boosting the 12k+ if you need a little air, but some people don't know what their doing, everyone needs to hear a REAL setup at least once, noone knows what good is anymore, sad really, forget trying to tell someone they need to spend time training their ear, anyone can go in a boost the hell out of the low and high end and tell someone it sounds good, but it takes a good ear to know what needs to be eq'ed, then again im newschool, speaker grills and high pile carpet are so last century.

You have to realize I did that install 14 years ago . Any carpet today is considered old school . If you were to do a Iasca or Usac competition in the mid 90's without grille's on your subs , you would of lost points . If you look at my Screw install on page 3 of this thread , you will not see any carpet or sub grille's . And even today , 80% or more of all prefab boxes are covered in guess what , Carpet .

1bad86- nice install in the F-150. Are those Q Logic kickpanels? How have you liked them? I've always been curious about pre-fabbed kicks. Also Q Logic states they'll fit up to a 6 1/8" woofer... who the hell makes that size?? I've wondered if a regular 6 1/2" mid would fit in there, which looks like what you've got (the Pioneer REV 6.5" if I'm not mistaken). What if any modification did you have to do to the kickpanel to get them to fit? And is it worth the imaging in your opinion? I've thought about doing kicks and a second set in the front doors, but I don't know much about cancellation issues, etc and so I haven't gone that route as of yet...

Yes they are Q-forms and I love them . I am using the Pioneer REV 6 1/2" component set with no special modification to the panel . I love the REV line,
(In my opinion) the best sounding speakers per dollar that you can find . I also sound deaden spray the back side of all Q-form panels that i've used. I've done 9 SQ competitions this summer , 6 first place and 3 second place finishes . So yea , I would say they make a difference in imaging .

ah... that's all I need, probably the audiocontrol mic, they are not as acurrate as the termlab and can be out a good 3 or more decibels. they are good for a ballpark reading but most scores on a audiocontrol mic are usually higher than a score on the more acurrate termlab. if you hit 139 on a audiocontrol your probably going to be around 135-136ish on a termlab, but theres only one wa to find out..... get to a DBdrag asap

I have seen as much as a 5 db difference between an Audio control and a Term-Lab . With of course the Audio Control being the higher reading .

How are they in terms of mounting depth? And did you have to relocate anything i.e. parking brake or did they just drop in? I know on some cars modification is required...

I totally removed the E-brake pedal on the drivers side . You don't have to though , I did because I made a panel to house the crossover . On the passenger side , you will have to relocate a bank of relays behind the OEM panel(very easy) instructions will tell you how to do this . Mounting depth is not a problem after this .

Awesome... where'd you pick up your kicks and how much did you pay for them? Also did you put any polyfill or anything behind them or just spray them with the deadener?
