Well what I'm doing I think is using all 4 channels on my amp (I have the MRV-F545- the old version of the PDX) to run my components 'actively.' A new discovery for me since joining this forum... depending on your deck/crossover options, you run your mids off channels 1 and 2 and your tweeters off channels 3 and 4, and don't use the crossovers that came with the components. I started a thread on it that should be close to the top of the page- check it out if you're interested. The Premiers should sound pretty sweet with this setup. What do you think you're gonna go with? Replace the Alpines with the new Type X or try out the Premiers? I don't think you'll be disappointed either way...

Boston Acoustics S85
If your not going to amplify the speakers go with the Boston's S85. I have the same setup with my Z2 and it sounds wonderful. I didnt amplify my door speakers, I let the Z2 power them. The only amp I have is for my sub. If I remember correctly the Z2 RMS is 15-17 watts RMS and the S85 can only handle 30RMS. This makes you close (not close enough) but closer to 30RMS (BA S85) than it would if you bought speakers with a 60 watts RMS. All in all you will love the S85's. Great sounding speakers. While you at it change the rears also.
