yup, ..... but you have to figure out how to cross them over now since you wont be using the crossovers

I think you are confused because deconder left out the part about the tweeters. Right now you are powering the tweeters and the woofers off of the same channel seeing a 4 ohm load so you are getting lets say 50w per side total.

By splitting the system you will be running the woffers off of one channel each giving you 50w to each woofer, then you would run the two tweeters off of the two channels that were originally feeding your rears in effect giving you up to 50watts to each tweeter.

THis setup would give you 50w per woofer and 50w per tweeter so a total of 100w per side vs 50w per side with your current setup.

Thanks TruBlu, I get it now. But now how do I cross them over like styx said? What does it even mean to cross them over?

Well you have a crossover that came with the components. This crossover handles sending the lower fz sounds to the woofer and the higher fz sounds to the tweeters at a predetermined fz. By splitting up the system or running the woofers and tweeter independantly from each other you would not be able to use the crossover that came with your speakers.

You will need to obtain new crossovers of some sort to run the woofers and tweeters on their own channels.

You will probably need a bandpass crossover for your woofers which will have a filter to keep out the low(bass) notes out of them and a filter to keep the high(treb) notes out of them, you will also need a crossover for each tweeter that will keep the lower notes out of them. The hard part is not only getting crossovers but figuring out what crossover fz to use.
