How do I wire this?
How do I wire this?
So I'm gonna ditch my rear speakers because of overall SQ and the fact that I'm underpowering my front comps.
Is there a way to wire the fronts to both the front and rear channels of the amp so they dont clip like they are doing now?

I assume your amp is a 4 channel based on the fact that you said you have both front and rear. If so you need to bridge the amp turning it into two channels rather than four. Read the instructions for the amp it will tell you how to connect your speaker wires for bridged operation.

Correct. Normally it is bridging the front channels and bridging the rear channels to make a 2 channel amp.
Its actually 5 channel but I dont have a manual. When I got it installed I never got it. He just said to bring it in if theres any problems. (Great guy, not trying to rip me off). Will it still be 4 ohms to the front comps? Im waaay confused. I just want to get the comps more power without upgrading the amp.
PS: Amp is Boston Acoustics GT-50

welcome to better sound
Might want to contact Boston Acc for this one.
Here is the manual for the amp
http://www.bostonacoustics.com/manuals/GT50Man.pdf
There is no mention of bridging it in there. Also on Bostons web page under the specs for this amp they do not list any power ratings for running 2 stereo channels + 1 sub channel.
Wonder if maybe there is no way to bridge this one to work in 3 ch. instead of 5???

Ahh, the last thing I want to do is blow the amp. Then I cant get anything for it if and when I decided to upgrade. I really want new wheels/tires, tint, exhaust, and tuner so no cash for audio.
Your best bet would be to keep the amp and find a set of front components that have a 2ohm impendance. THis would make your amp put out 65w to each front channel vs. the 45 you are currently seeing.
I am not sure what you are looking for but if it were me and I was going for SQ, I would throw 2 subs on there, then take the 4 channels you have left and run a set of 2ohm components off the front two channels and a dedicated set of midbass' up front off of the left over rear channels that you aren't going to use.

Its not a question of speaker stability. Its amos that are only stable at certian ohm loads. Any speaker will function at any ohm load provided they can take the power being produced by the amp. What you need to find is a component set who's specs show a nominal load of 2 ohms, meaning that once connected to an amp the amp will see a 2ohm load vs your typical 4ohm speakers.
For a quick refrence look at these:

under the features they show 2ohm impendance, these speakers or any that will sow a 2 ohm load to the amp will pull more power and therefore more volume than a set that will show a 4 ohm load

If it is not bridgeable, you could also run it active on the front comps. In other words, run one channel to each driver up front. You would not use the crossovers that came with the comps. You just wire each driver to its own channel. Total control over the sound that way.
