12s under the rear seat?

I s there anyone on this forum that is running 12s under the rear seat of a 04-up f150 supercab? Will 12s fit? I already have the subs and need a box but noone sells one. Can anyone help me? I have a set of Alpine TypeR 12s and a 1200 watt alpine amp. All I need now is a box.

And if they are not less than 7" of depth, they may not fit even with a seat lift.

I got an OLD rf punch onder there w/o a lift. Mounting depth was 5 7/8". And by OLD, I mean about 10 yrs. of garage use (shelf). I'll try to get pic's after work. Works ok, but im sure that the audiophile guys will rip me apart for doing it. If you are just wanting alot of thump and no real sq, than this would be ok. I proabley will swap it out after I finish the other audio stuff...

Forward facing might work. But, you will loose a bit of floorspace.

jmt got the IDQ to fit but, they are only 5.75". That is about the max that will fit without a lift. 7" is about the max with a seat lift downfiring.

12s will fit. I just put 13s in last weekend and they fit. I have the seat lift as well. Make yourself a box and get the seat lift. Face them down. Those type Rs will pound. I ran the same speaker in a 10 facing forward with the seat lift but found that the imaging was poor. You can probable shim up the seat lift to make a little more room as well.

Do some searching for box ideas in here. There are no off the shelf boxes that will work with your speakers, at least that I have found. There are many installs in here that can help with the mounting depth problem with your 12s. I need to post pics of mine to give back some if the ideas I used for myself.

thats nice and all but what is the mounting depth for that old rf punch sub?

the original thread starter wants to fit 2 Alpine Type-R 12's under the back seat, which are WAY deeper then your RF punch 12, not only is the listed mounting depth 7.7 inches. but I know for a fact that ther Type-R's have a pole vent which unless alpine is taking into consideration clearance for the vent it could well need 8+ inches of mount depth

yep... get different subs, or get prepared to get creative.... maybe a box like pat / brushtree's? .... b/c they definitely arent fitting under the seat... and i dont see how facing forward would work either without sticking out really far.

Im sure someone will buy those subs, they are pretty popular, otherwise good luck with a custom box. Keep us posted.

Pretty sure I can read dude. That was what he WANTED to run. The question was:

And yes, the Alpine is a deeper mounting sub than my RF, and this is why I didn't use the Alpine.
