Great job! Clean looking. Question though. Does your sub have enough room to expand without hitting the bottom of your seat? It could eat up your surround if so, not to mention what it would do to the sound.

No

It does not make contact with the seat at all. The box is built up around the sub so the seat rests on the box and the sub can not hit the bottom of the seat. The sound of this system is awesome. I can fool many into having at least 2 10's. The box has the exact amount of air space required for the sub to perform at peak level.

The craftsmanship is beautiful. VERY clean. But, I'm also having trouble understanding how the seat bottom isn't affecting the movement of the sub. Even if it isn't pysically slamming into it, where's the air going? That sub is moving a lot of air that is being pushed directly into the bottom of the seat. That has to be restricting the sub's excursion.

And what about air flow around the amps?

Having said all of that that, if it sounds great and your amps don't overheat, then it doesn't matter.

You should post your system specs for us when you get a chance.

Its ok

The JL 10W1 has very little excusion. You might not be able to tell but there is more space in between the seat and the sub. It usually has a grill on the sub but I took it off for the pictures. As far as the sound it is one of the best sounding systems I have heard. The bss is very tight and accurate. The back of the box is open where the amps are that is the side of the blowout of the fan in the AMP. The amps do not even get warm. Trust me, it took some experimenting to get this box perfect.

Didn't realize the box was open and that the amps were fan-cooled. 10W1 excursion is .375". All makes sense now. Thanks for the details. Sounds like a killer system. Again, great job.

Was just fooling around with some software tonight. Here is the 3D model with dimensions of the box, as designed and dimensions in the original post.

No offense to the original poster, but there was a drafting error on the original images, specifically, the "back" view. The 5" x 6" "notch" goes full height at the back, where as the original images show it as partial height. Also, the back dimension, in the center, where the hump in the floor exists in the center of the truck, is shown in the original images as 4" tall from top of box. This should be 3 3/4" in order to line up with the 1" vertical dimension as shown in the front elevation.

Here are some images:

If anyone else has a box design, I would model it and post here. Would take about 10 mins.

If I were to mirror the designs, would this plan fit in my 03?

Cool

I'm looking at building a box to fit either under the passenger or driver side, I have a Infinity 8'', wanna try and install amp under one side and put the sub under the other side.

Has anyone built anything using a 8'' sub....thx

The design shown above works just fine....just trim off the portion of the box where you want your amp to reside. Done. You can customize the box to meet the sealed requirements of your 8" sub by either further cutting the box size down or filling the inside of the box with solid materiel until you reach the desired interior dimensions that equate to your desired volume in cubic feet.

Note that I did not show subs in the design because it will accomodate 8, 10 or 12's.

Doing the math to reduce the physical dimensions to arrive at a box size you need for your set up is simple subtraction.

Does anyone have dimensions for a seat lift and 1 12" sub with 6.75 mounting depth for a ported box?
