My biggest concern is would the 6.5s cause me to have to 'trim' the plastic in the door to get them to fit. Then the number two concern would be finding an adapter.

triming the plastic is easy. takes all of two minutes. then all you need is an mount made of mdf make sure its big enuff to cover the 6x8 opening, cut a hole and viola... done takes about 10 minutes to do

some trimming maybe required depend on speaker... Polks went in with no trimming, Rainbows didn't fit in easly at all... I had to heat the panel with a heat gun and let the top and bottom of the speaker, adaptor assy. sink into the panel... could have just trimmed it out, but I didn't...
screws will have to be long enough to go though adaptor, panel and into the door skin
