Go with a different amp.
Yeah I'd have to run an amp, other wise from what I've read, you don't notice that big of a difference. Which bites because I don't want to go through all the work of wiring an amp.

So what would be the price range or a good brand of amp to do? I was thinking a 4 channel because I'd eventually replace the rear speakers with coaxials.

I like Zapco amps...I'm a big fan. You can get a nice 360.4 reference amp used on Ebay for less than $300. With amps...a watt is a watt. Look at their reputation, build quality, different features, etc. when choosing. Even some more common brands have decent amps like JL "slash" series, Alpine and so on. But, on the other hand...some are just junk...built with junk components, so becareful.

I'm not too familiar with the lower end or "cheaper" amps...so I'm not much help there. But..., if you aren't too opposed to buying used, that can be a great way to buy better quality stuff.

Yeah I'm going to look at the used stuff on ebay.

I wonder how long that rainbow sale is going on. Someone chime in if you happen to know.

Thanks again,

Duke

This is sweet...I dont need anything but I might end up picking something up just because.

Bry, why not get just a pair of the mids? Doesnt the set just have the regular CAL25 tweeter? Crossover, heck run 'em active.

F150Duke-Ill just throw Diamond out there for amps-they arent top of the line exactley-but they arent bottom of the barrel. I like them pretty good; I can actually afford them too. D7s are my fav., to much money for me though still

How about a hint? I'd just like to have an idea of why before I go spending money on it.

Hey Bry I am also intrested in the Rainbows also considering Focal. I was wondering if the SL 5x7 would work well as a rear fill or should I go with something slightly larger like a 5.25 or 6.5?

Like Styx said...I would not worry about rear fill right now. I'm not...even though my sig says I am...I haven't installed them yet.

Use the money that you would use for the rear fill to buy a better front set. Then, if you still want rear fill...you can get them later down the road.

But, to answer your question...The SL 5x7 would work fine for rear fill.

Oh, forget the Focals...I had 2 pair of Utopias...loved the mids, but hated the tweeters...too harsh.

Bry, do you have a link to find a set of powerline cmx? Also what is the diffrence between the kick and regular set? I checked out the site and did not find where it said or I just missed it. Thank you for the advice on the Focals.
