Install Pics...

Thought you guys might like to see my install so far. It's no where near finished, and if you frequent any other car audio forums, you might have already seen these...

The door panels are still in primer because I can't bring myself to break out the paint gun and spray 'em. Part lazy, part scared...

Anway, here they are:

Polk SR6500 6.5" Components...

Custom amp rack made to house 2 Soundstream Rubicon Amps, a Rubicon 1002 on the bottom, and a Rubicon 502 on the top, The amp rack is formed 14 gauge steel, that I laser cut at work. The front of the rack is a trace of the current soundstream logo that I traced and also laser cut. It is backed by 14 gauge perforated stainless steel.

Here's a pic of my current grille... I'm not happy with it, it's 14 gauge stainless steel with a grain, but I didn't draw it very good before I cut it, so I'm gonna redo it, but this time I think I'm gonna use 3/16" aluminum and have it polished...

That is a nice custom job there, great work on that amp rack especially. So, how's the sound so far? Let me know when you are ready to start on my truck...

It sounds really good, but since I aimed the components at the dome light, trying to achieve a two-seat SQ vehicle, and since the SR6500 sound best on-axis, the sweet-spot is in the center of the back seat.

Right now I'm saving my pennies for the Alpine PXA-H701 so I can hopefully use time alignment and EQ'ing with an RTA to fix it so that it sounds best more in the drivers seat.

As far as volume, clarity and range: I'm very impressed. These components are the best I've ever heard. I hear stuff in music now I never knew existed. There is no break-up at higher volumes or listener fatigue either. The tweeters are clean and crisp, but not harsh. I'd highly recommend them!

As for starting on your truck... how fat is your wallet?

Wow! Nice Custom door panels. I think they look pretty cool the color that they are but maybe not so in person?
What sub box is that?
I am struggling with going with the Stealth box, or 2 10's in a box from E-bay or 3 8's firing up in a fiberglass box available on E-bay for 310 incl. shipping.

Any opinions on those? I'm trying to get the best SQ I can but it would be nice to have some serious punch as well.
I would put 3 8W7's back there if they would fit but I think they are too deep.

I had no idea there was room behind that panel on the passenger side of the dash! Found Room!!! that's great.
I'm going to need some for my JL XR653's (3 way set)
Tim.

you should paint the door panels the same color as that light silver that is on the edge of the dash there...

Looks awesome. I was wondering the same as Bartak. Seems to pinch in those long legs.
