I am a little fuzzy on the balanced outputs on the Zaps. The person I am buying the 3.0 from is going to give me two of them. Are they just DIN to RCA type cables? Do I need anything else or is it just hook the DIN to the amp and the RCA to my deck?

You need the in-line symbilink transmitter, it has RCAs that plug into the your preouts and then you need the din to din cable...it plugs in the transmitter than to the amp.

I have an extra transmitter, maybe I'll give it to you if you make me that center channel baffle (since I don't have a CNC mill). Of course when I finally decide what speakers I end up with.

I'm now thinking about jumping on a pair of the old Alpine SPX-177A comps. They are cheap and IIRC, very laid back...which is what I think I'm wanting to try.

Dconder, what do you think about that Arc 12D4?

I'm thinking about ordering one for $140.00 shipped.

Is it 6" mounting depth?

I've got a Memphis MC1000D coming I may put on it.

I think the Arc subs are great. If you are in to good clean SQ bass. The 12" will pound pretty good but, the SQ is where it really excels. I would be a little worried about putting 1000 watts to one. They are only rated at 350 RMS and 700 peak. Around 500-600 would work really good.

Lol.

Yeah, you will probably have to look for awhile for a set of the Platinums. I really never see them for sale. Seems like the only Rainbows you see for sale are the Soundlines.

My second option is a pair of Morel MT-23 tweeters (w/ my Utopia mids) and run active. I also might try a pair of old Alpine SPX-177A components. I really want some laid back tweeters. I'm not even sure if the CAL28 tweets will be laid back enough for me.

I say go for the Morel/Focal route, ran active.

I love the idea of an active front stage, and I was going to do active with my next setup but just ended up getting these Pro Vandi's.

I need to find some...I called a couple of local dealers...they want $350 for a matching pair.
