Factory speaker sizes for F-150 Scab
Factory speaker sizes for F-150 Scab
I just bought a 2005 F-150 Supercab and want to change out the factory speakers.
1. How many speakers are there in this truck?
2. Where are there locations?
3. What are the speaker sizes
I know I could look for myself, but I don't currently have the truck with me and I want to order the speakers online before I get it back.
Any help would be appeciated. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. But by reading the forums it sounded like there might be 5.25 in the Front doors and a spot for tweeters too, so I'm skeptical about your answer.
I'm getting bits and pieces from reading the forums, but would like a more specific answer before ordering. Can anyone else give me an answer paticularly in the order the questions were asked?
Again, thanks in advance.

Your truck has 5x7s stock, but you can replace them with as big as 6x8s. The tweeters you read about can be placed mostly anywhere, usually where they give the best sound quality. These come on component speakers which are diff. than normal door speakers.
My Lariat apparently has small speakers at the top of the door & larger speakers lower. I also am interested in upgrading the factory sound. I've heard upgrading speakers is the best bang for the buck in doing this.
Crutchfield shows both 6"X8" & 5 1/4" as fitting both front & rear doors

I don't want to spend a lot. Would $100 pr speakers be any better than stock?

Yeah...sorry about not believing you. I went to an audio place afterward and they told me the same thing. I just read in the forums that there was a place for the tweeter at the top of the front doors and assumed that there were some already there.

If you have the audiophile system you dont have 5x7"s in all locations...You have 4" in the front with a 1inch or so tweeter mounted at the top of the door. The 4" is mounted on a 5x7/6x8 plate with the crossover. 5x7/6x8 on all the rears. The audiophile system also has a 8" sub under the back seat. If you have the standard system you have the 5x7/6x8 in all four locations and no sub.
Just a note to those considering upgrading speakers...
Unless you're going all out with a new head unit, you probably shouldn't change your speakers.
The factory head unit doesn't have enough power to drive any good aftermarket speakers. If you try driving better speakers under-power, you can actually damage them (long-term) and the sound quality (from my experience) is actually worse.

Very good....thanks for all your input.
As for this comment:
The guy at the audio place also told me the same thing.
Thanks again.

mid, left rt side?
Are you sure you have audiphile? You can have a 6-cd in dash changer without the audiophile system.
The audiphile system definately has components and I believe the sub is under the driver side rear seat.
