Question Several questions for you audiophiles.........

I have a 2000 F150 Supercab. I bought an 05 oem 6 disc HU to switch out. First does anyone know if you can add an amp or do I need to. I would like to replace the stock speakers which do not have enough bass or highs, should I go with 2 way or 3 way coaxial or what. I don't think I want a componet system due to the install hassles. I may put in one or two subs if the system will handle it. I need suggestions on the best speakers and subs and what amp if any I should use. I am not a huge music person but I would like what I listen to ( Country and Rock) to sound good.
Thanks
Mark

I would go with the 3 ways, they are just cleaner and crisper, as for an amp, if you put subs in i would highly reccomend an amp. 10's work awesome for country and rock. if you want to go mild I would reccomend 1 10 with maybe a 600.4 amp, you can hook your other speakers up to it too....I got a set of pioneer tweets installed just under the winshield too....sound bounces off the glass and really adds to the music.

Mark, If installing a component set would be a "hassle" for you, then a decent 2-way may be just what you want. Coupled with a properly matched sub system this would cover the frequency spectrum quite nicely for a daily driver. Be warned though, don't go listening to anyone's nice component system or you may be disappointed with your speakers. Especially if you invest in something like the ones you can get at WalMart for about $50. They are terrible. Also, the crossover network on a 2-way or 3-way is a huge weak link and, in turn, is one of the benefits of components. People disregard the importance of quality crossovers and the other benefits of components for the "drop in, ease of installation" types of speakers. Trust me, for the difference in sound quality, the "hassle" of installing components is NO hassle at all.

I don't have any pics but I drilled out a hole in the plastic that that runs down the side of the windshield, you know where they make those gauge pods, on that column right there. I set them in so they are facing the windshield at an angle, more towards the bottom. I can't get pics either cause I'm in afghanistan right now. but thats where I put them

Hey V6, Sorry I haven't been on for awhile, been gettin packed up and ready to go home. Out-Processing and stuff...long days short nights. About the crossovers, no I dont have any, didn't think I needed them to be honest with you. I wouldn't mount them in the doors, you should have adequate space underneath the seats. Good luck with the install. I can't wait to sit in my baby again!
