Lightning Subwoofers

I want to put some subs in my L that can be heard before my car is seen. I want no more than 2 subs, and I want to mount them in the cab of the truck. Can you recommend any subs and an amp for the subs? Would 2 JL Audio 10W3V2-D4s with a JL Audio 500/1 amp do the trick? Thanks.

that set up you listed will rock, but you can probably get a bigger amp like the 1000/1. i don't know what the rated power for those jl subs are, but i would guess that they can handle more than 250 watts a piece. also, key to your sound is going to be the build of the box. make sure you take it to a place that knows what they're doing. i've got two 10's in my L with 1200 watts going to them (phoenix gold xenon subs and amp) and it pounds!

How much did the subs and amp cost you? Did you get a custom box built? How much did that cost?

If i were you i would just get a top of the line 12 with a mono amp.

$300 price range- orion H2, RE SX, ID Max
$350 - $400 price range - RE XXX, Adire BRAHMA

Well you were looking at around 300 for the two w3v2s, but if you wanted to go with just one 12 any of these would be a good choice. Depending on which one you choose, you will more than likely have to put it in a sealed box though.

They XXX and Brahma have a fairly deep mounting depth if I remember right though. Might not be able to fit them in a L.

If you REALLY want to be heard from 5 miles away, your probably going to want someting more than 10's.

Like Ga Foo said, maybe one or a pair of 12's.

IA, RE, Adire, Ascendent audio, soundsplinter...all very good.

So, what company makes really hard hitting 12" subs that don't require alot of mounting depth?

Stevenpeven, what type of music do you listen to? It will make a difference in what type of sub will work best.

Octogon169 - NICE set-up!

Pretty much all rap. I know the JL Audio 13W7 hits extremely hard, but I sincerely doubt that it would be able to fit.

in one of the smallest vehicle compartments that you can find (single cab pickup) two 10's will hit HARD. you may not be able to here from ten blocks down, but inside, you won't even be able to tell the difference. i listen to metal and rap, both require a ton of bass, and my two 10's pound. just make sure you have enough power going to them.

Will they hit hard enough that when stopped at a light the cars next to me will hear it?
