stealthbox opinions
No, I'm not interested in the JL box. It's $500 no thank you. I do want to know your opinions on this though....through Crutchfield, they basically have two options on custom boxes for the f150. MTX makes one that has two 8 inch subs in it, and the box fits under the rear passenger side seat of a supercab. So that seat won't fold down but the rear driver side supposedly will. They have that for $370 for the box and two MTX Thunder5000 subs (8's). One fact given about them is that the subs are: Two 8-ohm, 8" wired in parallel which results in a 4 Ohm load. Heh, is that good or not?
The other option they have is to buy a Q-Logic box for $270, it has the same setup as the MTX box (i.e., under the rear seat), but does not come supplied with subs, and has 2 spaces for 8's. What kind of advice do you guys have towards these ideas..or maybe some of you think i should avoid both of these and go another route...all opinions welcome.
BTW, I already miss my big 12in Kicker Competition that was in my '94 Grand Cherokee...but that left with the Jeep and the box was way too huge for a pickup anyway. Sorry if this was kinda long.

The MTX box would not be a bad choice, I have heard some good things about them, and being they are wired into a 4 ohm load, yes that will be good. Meaning you could run your amp at 4 ohm mono which would supply a good amount of power(depending on which amp).
The Q-logic box I am not sure, some people are heistant with Q-logic boxes because they say they are not built well enough. Also, you would have to buy subs for it, so you would need to make sure you buy subs that fit really well into the airspace, although all 8's should be ok. The MTX boxes would be the best way to go though. Car Stereo review did a review on a few of the 'stealthboxes', if you can dig the issue up...last months I think, you might want to take a look at that. It tests an MTX and a Q-logic as well as a couple others. I will take a look and see if I can find it and let you know, I am at school now so I will look when I get home.

Hey, for all of us regular cab F150's (Lightning or not), MTX makes a great 2-10" Sub box for us. It comes in reg. interior colors. Awesome sound and looks like it came with the truck.

The Thunderform is what I was referring to. With 2-10" MTX 200w subs, it cost about $349.00. You can order it w/out subs though.

If your just putting in 8 or 10 I would build it myself, then you can get a better woofer and not have to use so much air space. Thats just my advise. Spend a little time for quaility. If any one needs specs. just tell me the speaker and find out the rest and give you the dim. etc. It isnt no problem its a hobby for me.

I build boxes all the time for people. As far as paying $5oo for that JL box. Buy the speakers and build the box yourself.

I did find a site with the MTX T-Form box and 2 MTX5000 8in subs, together all for $275. Not bad if you ask me since CrutchField had it for $370. One thing about Crutchfield with me, I'll use them for information only from now on. When I actually shopped around, there are sites with MUCH lower prices on everything, but Crutchfield is a great source of info. Oh yeah, here's the site with that 275 price on the box if any of you guys are interested:

luvford,
If you order something from that place let me know how good the service is.You know if their stuff is lajit. Because their amps that I want are at least $100 or more cheaper than the place I would get mine from.
Thanks Dude

Me again, I have just heard of all these different places selling used or conditioned stuff.I can't send alot of money and get, had. I would have to then make a special trip to the place, If you know what I mean.
As for the sub issue, the MTX 5000-7000 series subs are very good. The 15" 7000's use about 1.25 Quebec feet of air space. I am sure that the 12"-8" are use very small boxes as well. I would custom build the box and cover it with factory carpet or cloth. If you are going to go with MTX use the 7000 series. Another good sub that uses very little air space is the Kicker solo-baric.
These are the only 2 choices in my opinion.
Both are great sounding subs at low or high volumes.

To MidnightSTX, I'm not sure when I'll be ordering the MTX box. I just got this truck and the front speakers don't work, so I need to upgrade the speakers first (any suggestions?). The original plan was sub first, then speakers and stereo. But when i do order something from them, i'll post it here.
To..um...Crustymuffin (nice name LOL)...what about Rockford Fosgate Punch DVC's (8in) for small areas?? At first I was thinking about getting just the box and two of these subs for it....until I came across that $275 price, that's just too hard to pass up. If I don't like the MTX subs, i may replace them with some others, not sure yet though, havent heard 'em. Also, the MTX7000 series don't come in 8in, so 5000 are the best line of 8in subs they got.
Thanks.

luvford,
I would suggest some coaxial speakers for the door. I don't how much money that your going to spend but, I would go with two way at the most, three ways are not a big differnce, if any at all as far as sound goes . Infinity Kappa 572.1cf are good but cost. Polk Ex572a are a little cheaper. I will probably go with the Infinity Kappa's when I get the money. Or you can leave the back speakers there and get a component system for just the front, you would probably want a amp on those. In the next two or three weeks I'm probably break down and get my stuff. Or at least some of it. I'm getting a headache, talk at ya!
Thanks
