Yea regcab, i've used them since i got my since 95, as a matter of fact, i am thinking of selling it. I have a 1 yr old 8' rs unslaved (warranty for 2 yrs) and running it with a alpine mrv-T300 it's putting 100 watts into it, sounds real good,There are 3 things you have to remember when using a tube(bazooka), location, location and location.
I see your drivng a reg cab?? and that will fit behind you on the floor, facing the outside panal, it will kick butt.
Let me know if your interested in it. the 8' goes for around $169-$179 (new) and the amp i bought new was $179.00
I'll deal with you, addy listed below......Dogcam

54regcab,
Hell since we're the only ones posting in this topic, i just wanted to know, are you still thinking about the bazooka tube???
Give me a "haller". They do a super job with component speakers.

Question

Installed 2 6.5" Bazookas today.
They sound good for the price but they don't have much deep bass.
Only paid $40.00 for them.
Lots of mid bass.
Would a crossover resolve my problem or do 6.5" not have that much bass?

Well DC I had to at least check them out for that price and I did hook them up before I bought them.
I hooked an amp w/built in crossover up to them and they sound much better.
Not earth shattering bass but not bad for a pair of 6.5" woofers that I only paid $40.00 for the pair.

Question

DC why are you selling your bazooka tube?
Why aren't you putting it in your '00?
How much bass did you get with the one 8"?

To answer yor question regcab, I am getting captain seats in my new 00 and depending on the size in the console I might go with a boxed 10' or open air.
I might use the 8" Bazooka, but if I had the chance to sell it b/4 I got my new truck in, I'd sell it, as long as I got the $ I wanted for it.
The 8" tube does a excellent job,you have to get it in the "sweet" spot and it will really bounce out good clean bass, it's not going to match a 10' or 12" boxed woofer incased or ported, but for the money it does well.
The way to get a Bazooka to hit hard is the right amount of wattage and keeping it in mono, so my alpine that i use has and does all that, makes a good match.

Wink

Later on as more funds become avalible I will most likely go with 2 8"s or 2 10"s in a box.
Do you think the bazooka 8" has as much deep bass as a ported or sealed boxed 8"?

Yes, I think a 8" Bazooka tube has as much or better sound as a 8" box, if the tube has a good amp.
I have never really heard a "good" 8" woofer enclosed, that is one that was sealed or open air, their just too small to do the job.
Bazooka does have a good way of getting good bass out of their 8 and 10" tubes.
Find a shop that sells them and try to let them hook one up (10" slaved) it will get down and dirty.

Dogcam,

Since you are getting the captains chairs, consider the JL Sub that fits in the console. It has a 10" sub, and really pounds out hard deep base. It's not cheap ($499) but you will love it. No boom, just great base. If you want great base, full function of the rear seat, and hear one you will buy it. .. Just my .02

Good luck with the new truck.

Mods: Gibson 3" catback, K & N filter, JL Stealthbox subwoofer in center console, Phoenix Gold XS4300 amp, Pioneer TS-A6815 speakers, tinted front windows, LINE-X bedliner, Ford bug deflector

Thanks Bart, I'll look into that, you're right on the not cheap, but in some cases you have to go with what works....

Cool

JL Audio probably makes one of the best subs available. They also have an awesome web page. Check it out : http://www.jlaudio.com/

They sound incredible. There was a comparison a few weeks back between JL Audio & MTX enclosures. They were pretty even.

I have the MTX enclosure. But I really don't like the MTX 5000's. They are the lower end of the MTX line. Absolutely no comparison to JL as far as sound quality etc.
